Friday, November 5th – For a long time, this was a Standard deck that cost $5, had solid matchups against Mono-Green Ramp and U/W, and boasted turn 3 kills. Then I added Adventuring Gear which led to fetchlands, and then it got expensive.

Thompson’s effort to unseat Bertoncini caused him no bad karma throughout the tournament Sunday. After an 0-2 start on Saturday he tore through all comers in the Legacy format. That set up a showdown between Gerry and James Rynkiewicz. For Thompson it was his THIRD time in the Finals of a StarCityGames.com Open event, but did he have what it took to finally win? He gave it his all, but ultimately James’ deck had the better draws and Thompson failed to pull out the victory. That means James Rynkiewicz is the 2010 StarCityGames.com Legacy Open champion in Boston! |
