Thursday, May 15th – A Mono-Green aggro player somewhere down in the cockles of his heart, last week Mr. Tribally Thrifty put together a budget Mono-Green aggro deck for play at the FNM level. What happened? Did the deck succeed or fail?
Thursday, May 15th – I’m feeling old. I was checking my list of published articles and noticed that my first Magic-related articles were published almost a decade ago. That’s a perfect excuse to talk about where Magic is at, and what it is doing. A lot has changed – and a lot has stayed the same.
Wednesday, May 14th – I had a good time at this weekend’s Magic extravaganza, the Star City Mega-Magic Weekend. For those of you who did come out and were kind enough to come up and introduce yourselves and let me know you enjoyed my column, I really appreciate it. Nothing feels better than meeting you all face to face and hearing positive feedback. You all rock!
Wednesday, May 14th – Crying infants in airplane cabins. The Nickelback song “Rock Star.†Single-ply toilet paper. Economic libertarians. Rush-hour horn-honkers. I hate all of those things, but absolutely none of them rile my passions and inflame my innermost ire like the Champion trigger on a Mistbind Clique.
Tuesday, May 13th – A total of 156 Shadowmoor boosters got Drafted at Rich Hagon’s palatial villa in the heart of England this weekend, a figure which should make Event Logistics Co-ordinators throughout Seattle happy campers. And since ten of the finest decks are here for you to pore over and dissect, there should be some happy campers elsewhere (flask) too.
Tuesday, May 13th – All I wanted to do was stick Shield of the Oversoul on a Doran. The idea nagged at me, nibbling my ear when I was otherwise occupied. Come on, it’d whisper, build a Super-Doran deck… “But it’s a three-color guy in a speedy format,†I’d offer, “and creature enchantments are rubbish!†The idea continued its coaxing unabated. Eventually, I caved…
Monday, May 12th – Unlocking Legacy spends a lot of time talking about how good Threshold is. By popular demand, Kevin Binswanger is back this week talking about a deck set to take down this monster.
Monday, May 12th – The Star City Games $5000 Open Day 1 Top 8 was filled with Green cards, which would be a good sign if they didn’t miserably fail in the face of even more Faeries. Still, it can give one hope that the metagame won’t completely debase into Faeries versus non-Faeries, although I fear we may already have reached that point.
