Now that Affinity got the full axe in Standard, we have a more diverse and open format in which the question “Does this beat Affinity?” no longer has to be asked. This is probably a good thing overall, allowing for future deck innovation and the ability to be free of the “best deck” syndrome. However, it also means the Mono-Blue – a deck that was tricked out to beat Affinity – has to undergo some serious changes in order to retain its status as one of the best decks.
