Sort of an end of the year mishmash today. I played in Lorwyn PTQ. I can do a mini tournament report. The leagues I was monitoring ended. I have stats. The two topics fit together like toothpaste and differential equations, so it’s all good.
BDM and Flores covered “Twelve Decks,†or whatever, and y’all have I am sure recapped 2007-in-Magic more than you care to acknowledge. While Remi Fortier’s hair is certainly reminiscence-worthy, and Billy did probably design the best deck in Magic history, I’ll save you the trip through memory lane.
Instead, I’ll just talk about me.
I’m in awe of people who do “The Year in Review” columns. It takes skill… I don’t even dare contemplate doing a review of what happened in 2007. Instead, I decided to review – preview – what I’m looking forward to in the coming year. Most of this will be Magic-related, but I might sprinkle in some other stuff too. The cube has recently taken the Magic world by storm, starting with the Magic Invitational and spreading around the world; it even infiltrated Wizards of the Coast’s internal Draft Club. With Day 2 of Worlds concentrating on the Legacy format, it was a chance for the pro community to flex their Eternal muscles. While Tiago Chan was out of contention for Top 8 glory by the time Legacy rolled around, his deck decision process and testing is worthy of our attention.
