Friday, May 30th – In the Pro Tour: Hollywood Top 8, Jan Reuss and his Merfolk overpowered Shuhei Nakamura’s Black/Green Elves over four games in the semi-finals. However, in the final, against Charles Gindy’s similar Elven offering, the Merfolk folded quickly. Today’s Flores Friday sees Mike thrash out the Elves versus Merfolk matchup in preparation for Regionals…

Friday, May 30th – With the Standard Pro Tour now in the books, it seems that the approaching Regionals will be informed by those decks strong enough to make Top 8 play. Adrian examines exactly how the two finalists made way to the final table, and shows us how the Elves and Merfolk mages need to develop for the battles ahead.

He also offers his Top 32 Mono-Red deck, and walks us through some of the more pertinent matchups with full sideboarding information. Friday, May 30th – I would like to discuss what I got from the “Hollywood Experience,” from my chair at home a few days after the fact. For the most part this is a look at single cards and their impact in the context of a greater whole, when their implication had somehow been missed prior to that event.

Thursday, May 29th – I’m sure we all followed the Pro Tour: Hollywood coverage, and I’m sure we all did a double-take when we saw Patrick Chapin’s Day 1 record. Innovation, it seems, can be a harsh mistress. Patrick claims he has been harangued by the following question repeatedly since the PT ground to a halt, but it’s time to ask it in an official capacity. Patrick… what happened?

Thursday, May 29th – Kyle rocked out to sunny California with a foiled Wizards deck, a wandering eye, and a pocketful of Pro Tour dreams. Thursday, May 29th – At the moment, there seem to be a few decks that are humiliating the rest of the field in various Top 8s in Grand Prix Trials and other Block Constructed tournaments, including the most recent double Pro Tour Qualifier in Hollywood. From what I hear, Mirrorweave Kithkin took Friday’s PTQ, and Saturday’s was likely won by Faeries but I haven’t seen confirmation anywhere.

Thursday, May 29th – I spent the weekend at Pro Tour: Hollywood. I was working – and playing – and had a great time. I watched the Top 8 coverage. I watched a Block Constructed PTQ. I stayed up until the very wee hours playing EDH. I watched eight high level judges – including myself – try to draft, and mess it up so badly we abandoned it.

While he didn’t cause a splash in the grand scheme of things, he did learn some significant lessons on the evolving Standard format. To learn these lessons, and to discover why PT: Hollywood may well be his last, read on!

Wednesday, May 28th – As we all know, Benjamin Peebles-Mundy loves the ‘Lark. Today’s edition of Peebles Primers examines whether Reveillark decks are to be feared come Regionals. Drawing on statistics from Pro Tour: Hollywood, in which two plucky Reveillark players made Top 8, BPM concludes that maybe the Faeries deck isn’t quite the best deck in Standard after all…

Wednesday, May 28th – In three days, I’ll be slinging spells at Grand Prix: Birmingham. I’ve been testing for weeks. Two days ago, I won three byes. Today, I start intensive testing with a gaggle of established pros. On Sunday, I intend to be in the Top 8. I’m taking this one seriously. Wanna join me?

Wednesday, May 28th – I arrived in Hollywood laden with hopes and expectations; I left disappointed but eerily satisfied, defeated but irrevocably changed. As a player and as a person I learned a great deal about myself as a result of this trip, and in this article I will attempt to chronicle some of those changes…
