Hello folks, and welcome to an article 329 entries in the making. For almost a decade, I’ve been talking about this deck in my column, and it’s time to show it off. Without hesitation, here is my uber deck: Abe’s Deck of Happiness and Joy.
Tuesday, March 16th – This week we are going to be doing something a bit different. Most of time, this column is dedicated to bringing you insight into Constructed Magic (hence the title), but I do love Limited as well, and I’m occasionally forced to play such formats. Today we’ll be going over Zendikar Block Sealed with Worldwake in the second MTGO Champs of the 2010 season.
Tuesday, March 16th – Going into Grand Prix: Kuala Lumpur, Sam Black was set on playing Zvi Mowshowitz’s excellent Mythic list. However, he decided to audible into an innovative U/W build at the last minute, and it paid dividends. Today, he takes us through the reasons why, explains the decklist, and brings us a game-by-game breakdown of his performance.
Tuesday, March 16th – This past weekend, Indianapolis showed the revival of decks that want to play more than four turns in a game, with a multitude of interesting control decks showing up at the final tables. This week, take a look at the lists that went to bat against Reanimator, Goblins, Merfolk and the other aggressive, fast decks in Legacy and see how they did it with Engineered Explosives, Thopter Foundry, Gatekeeper of Malakir and more! Also, get Doug’s pick for the hot metagame deck, a potential ringer because of a weakness in the metagame against a certain Mirrodin artifact. All this and more in this week’s Legacy’s Allure!
Tuesday, March 16th – Dave explores some inexpensive options for the ongoing Extended PTQ season.
Tuesday, March 16th – In the first edition of a new weekly column, Pro Tour mainstay Ben Lundquist discusses the need for proper preparation when going into high-level Magic events. Scrubbing out is never a good feeling… but if we’re honest, do we always do all we can to avoid such an ignoble exit? Ben reveals all…
Tuesday, March 16th – Last week I started my series of articles on what I call the Theory of Stock Mana. I am a big believer in starting from the very beginning, and that is what I was trying to do last week. I started with the basics of the concept and planned to elaborate and expound. My mistake was that I didn’t start at the very beginning…
Monday, March 15th – In today’s So Many Insane Plays, Stephen Menendian is in a lyrical mood. He takes us through a fierce battle between the Dark Mage (the Perfect Storm) and the Bant Mage (Oath). With detailed thought processes and play-by-play analysis, who will emerge the victor?
Monday, March 15th – The first batch of Rise of the Eldrazi spoilers are here, and we’ve got ‘em! All in all, I have six cards to review, and I’ll give you my thoughts on each of them in general and then, of course, how they’ll play in the Greatest Format Known to Man.
Monday, March 15th – Jace, the Mind Sculptor is proving to be a hit across a number of Constructed formats. Patrick Chapin is one of the card’s biggest fans, and today he suggests strategies and decklists that utilize the powerful planeswalker in everything from Block Constructed to Vintage!
Monday, March 15th – A little over a year ago, when I started writing for this website, I actually thought about giving up the game again. My Extended PTQ results were awful, and any time I lost a game while at a PTQ, booster draft, or playing FNM, I beat myself up, badly. I felt obligated to do well as a writer, embarrassed by misplays, and under a lot of pressure to do “something†with the game
Monday, March 15th – What does it mean for a card to be powerful? Is Bloodbraid Elf powerful? Is Vampire Hexmage powerful? Is Thopter Foundry powerful? Is Nettle Sentinel powerful? Each of those cards has been and will continue to be staples of decks that have dominated formats.
Monday, March 5th – Hello again everybody, it’s just past midnight, we’re up late and waiting for some goodness so let’s get to those spoilers. No need for bumpers, there’s Rise of the Eldrazi and we need to see something new and sexy. Let’s go!
