Thursday, September 18th – In today’s Kitchen Table, Abe cranks up Magic: The Electronic in order to investigate Masters Edition 2, and its possible impact on the online Prismatic format.
Thursday, September 19th – In recent weeks I have had a lot of time to think about Magic, and too little time to actually play it. That means I have no real tech, but lots of gripes. Rather than just gripe, though, I want to look at some really dumb ideas that I have recently heard.
Thursday, September 18th – I’ve loved Epochrasite and haven’t had a reason to play it in a long while, and Scarecrone seemed like a good time to do it – if Epochrasite ended up countered or discarded, it’s the perfect creature to pull out of the graveyard with Scarecrone. I also have a warm spot in my heart for Mindless Automaton, another card I was eager to pair up with Scarecrone.
Wednesday, September 17th – Let’s be honest, you only had to be at the Time Spiral Pre-Release without knowing the big surprise to see the Timeshifted set as a home run. Jaws dropped, arms flailed wildly, dealer tables went potty, and one of the hardest demographics on planet Earth to actually flat-out impress were gobsmacked. But what impact did the Timeshifted 121 have over the following two years? Rich is here to tell you, and give you his list of cards that are more keep than keepsake.
Wednesday, September 17th – I know that, in Vintage, you’ve got a two-mana combo that can win you the game at instant speed. I’ve got another two-mana combo for you. It may not win you the game… but it does add 15 to your mana pool, allow you to exchange life for mana on a one-to-one basis, and draw you seven cards. It can’t be that hard to win from there, can it?
Tuesday, September 16th – Dave breaks out the college words this week in the title, but the article is all kindergarten words, as he digs into the first week of Shards of Alara previews to see what’s available for the thrifty player. Tuesday, September 16th – Today, I’m going to take a little time to tell you a little bit about myself, because one of my messages is that judges are human. Playing in that PTQ three weeks ago got me thinking about my Magic career and the constant seesaw battle for my soul. Play or Judge? Clearly I’ve chosen a path, but it wasn’t always so easy. My story began, like so many others, with a botched Judge call…
Tuesday, September 16th – I think it’s a touch too soon to talk about Extended, so this week we’ll be discussing some Vintage ramifications from the Time Vault errata and the upcoming Blue Planeswalker. Time Vault by itself was already a big deal, but with Tezzeret on the horizon, the win conditions of Vintage may be completely supplanted, much like Tendrils of Agony’s impact on the format over time.
Monday, September 15th – School is starting, the leaves are changing colors, and Notre Dame almost loses its home opener to a team that lost to Cal Poly the week before. That can only mean one thing: that it’s fall and the Extended season is on the horizon.
Monday, September 15th – “What was it like, being locked in with some of the finest writers in science fiction for six weeks?†you may ask. And the answer is, “It was like missing out on Magic for several months.†In fact, it was so like missing out on Magic that by the time I got around to making my Top Five Best Multiplayer Cards From Eventide, several months had passed! You might even think that this list would be slightly antiquated… But no! Now it’s playtested!
Friday, September 12th – With most of Extended a ‘known quantity,’ the potential impact of Shards of Alara remains generally small. We have been told already that all of the creatures from the shard of Esper will be artifact creatures, regardless of colored mana cost, and thus we can expect that there will be a reasonable number of cards that deserve consideration for the ‘best deck in Extended’ (so-called), Affinity.

Thursday, September 11th – I have built hundreds of decks during my time as a writer here at StarCityGames.com. What I intend to do today is very simple. I am going to take some of the cards off my top 10 favorite cards list, and build a deck around them. Do you know that despite my regularly professed love for Scarwood Bandits in this column, that I have never built a deck around them? That ends today.
Thursday, September 11th – For some time, I have been trying to play in an online Constructed tournament so I can write about the experience. The forums, and other writers, have complained about the state of Constructed online, so I wanted to see for myself. I set aside the time, found a deck and… well, the good news is that I am undefeated. The bad news is that I still haven’t played in a Constructed PE. Therein lies the story.
