Thursday, January 1st – Recently I regained my Abedraft box from one of my friends, who had it in his possession for over a year while my life status was in limbo. After regaining it, I began the task of checking all of the cards to see if they were still there. While doing these checklists, I came across a variety of things and uncovered some interesting cards, questions, and more. In today’s article, I want to talk about them, perhaps build a deck or two, and otherwise have some fun.
Thank You for Ordering Next Level Magic by Patrick “The Innovator” Chapin!

Wednesday, December 31st – As I mentioned above, today we have Luis Scott-Vargas and Gerry Thompson battling it out in the top tier of the Standard metagame. LSV takes to the skies with the de facto best deck in the format, while GerryT pumps out a swarm of Black and White token creatures. How does the matchup feel from the Faerie perspective? Read on to find out!

Wednesday, December 31st – Canadian maestro Rich Hoaen has downed tools for good, as work and real life intrudes apace. As a replacement, we have Luis Scott-Vargas, who shares each pick from a Magic Online 8-4 queue. He talks us through the difficult decisions in the forums… do you agree with his choices?

Wednesday, December 31st – Two weekends, two second-place PTQ finishes. “Kowalifying.†Certainly not satisfying. At least the guy I lost to this time around was Cynic Kim, i.e. An Actual Player, but still. Stings, daggers, grail-shaped beacons in the sky hovering exactly one micron beyond arm’s length, all glowing and neon and come-hither. An almost profound and certainly reinvigorated respect for how difficult this hill is to conquer.

Wednesday, December 31st – From A to K, the Worlds scoresheet gets the familiar RH treatment. Who were the movers and shakers when it came to the crunch? Who excelled in Extended, scored in Standard, and delivered in Draft? Who got the easy schedules and who destroyed the heavy-hitters? It’s all here, with the rest of the best coming soon!

Wednesday, December 31st – On this week’s fun-packed MTGCast, the guys discuss Conflux spoilers, Nicol Bolas, and more!

Tuesday, December 30th – Today, Brazilian pro Paulo Vitor Damo da Rosa concludes his excellent tournament report from his recent Top 8 performance at the 2008 World Championships. He takes us through Draft 2 and Extended, before presenting his current versions of both Standard Faeries and Extended Zoo.

Tuesday, December 30th – Kyle Sanchez, never one to mince his words, believes he has found the best deck in Standard. No, it’s not Faeries. No, it’s not White-Black Control, or Red/White Junk. It builds on a popular strategy, and Kyle believes it beats almost everything he throws against it. He brings us the decklist and sideboard plans for the major matchups in the format. Intrigued? Then read on!

Tuesday, December 30th – In the current Extended, the metagame has seemingly switched only twice, once from Berlin and again after seeing the Worlds decks and the introduction of Mono Blue Control into the mix. However, the supposed metagame for Grand Prix: Los Angeles seems to be shaping up into three camps: MUC, Zoo, and everything else.
Monday, December 29th – We’re running out the last of Urza and Invasion Block – but the good news is that there’s a card that every casual Red Burn player should have that ignores Circles of Protection, shrugs off counterspells, and goes for a reasonably cheap price. Can you feel the rage?
