Friday, April 9th – My last article, In Search of Flash: Reanimator in Legacy, concluded with a potential Reanimator list based in part on Steve Sadin’s winning Hulk Flash deck from Grand Prix: Columbus 2007. The list was a merger of Steve’s list and Andres Mullers’ list from Grand Prix: Madrid 2010. The idea was to retain the strengths of both decks as much as possible.

Friday, April 9th – The day before leaving I woke up to the following Facebook status: “Brian Kowal is in Kuala Lumpur. As far as I can tell, it’s just a big mall.” I chuckled, after all the tournament site was part of one of Malaysia’s largest megamalls, and during a tournament there is little time or incentive to get out and see anything else. Leave it to Mr. Kowal to make the best tongue-in-cheek quip about any situation.

Wednesday, April 7th – Fundamentally, the problem with most of Legacy’s aggressive decks is that it is nearly impossible to use creatures with generally combat-oriented abilities to generate favorable interactions against most of Legacy’s combo decks. This reduces the set of interactions those creatures can perform to “reduce target player’s life total by this creature’s power every turn.â€
Wednesday, April 7th – At the time of writing, the Extended season is officially over for me. There is still another PTQ in the Midwest next weekend, but I don’t really have the means to make it to Chicago. I’m actually a little bummed about it too, since I finally found a deck that I felt good about: Congregation Zoo.
