Thirst for Knowledge – Inner Calm, Outer Strength

Wednesday, March 24th – As a college student, one eventually gets used to the ebb and flow of things, and thinks nothing of the day-to-day class sessions. Chemistry classes are about chemical reactions, writing courses are about writing, and physiology is about the human body. It’s pretty standard fare stuff on the surface. However, sometimes they are more than that, and they stay with you.
Feature Article – Esper Control in Standard

Wednesday, March 24th – With Standard still dominated by the Red/Green/Black wrecking machine, Ben Lundquist is looking for something a little different. Today, he shares his funky Esper Control deck for Standard play. With UW Control mutating into a tap-out strategy, is this the next evolution of the modern countermagic deck?
Practical Legacy – In Search of Flash: Reanimator in Legacy

Wednesday, March 24th – Every competitive player is in search of a deck that has an edge over all other decks in a given format. If such a deck exists, it gives any player playing it a clear and present advantage over any player not playing the same deck. There has rarely been any such deck in Legacy’s short history.
Constructed Criticism – UB Thopter

Tuesday, March 23rd – Just when you thought that Gerry Thompson was fading away into the background, he’s done it again. In the online PTQ this past Sunday, two copies of his deck (or similar versions) made it all the way to the finals, piloted by Charles Gindy, as well as the eventual winner (whose name I do not know).

And that caused some pretty interesting issues for Staff, Judges, Pros, dealers, casual players, Wizards, and coverage writers. When exactly does Big get Too Big? Rich wants your help in finding out. If you care in any way about a system that supports Pro Magic, this is a must-read.

The Chump Block – Milling Indy

Monday, March 22nd – I took a unique deck to the StarCityGames.com Indianapolis Open. Unique in the sense that probably no one else in the room was likely playing it, but people who read my column on a regular basis (hey, mom) should recognize it. I had written about my Hedron Crab deck a little while ago and had be doing fairly well with it online, so after making a few minor changes and a few offerings to various deities I decided to put my money where my mouth was.
