Tuesday, October 7th – Today we look into the futures of some non-Zoo and non-Affinity aggro decks that could still potentially thrive in today’s quick Extended. Much has already been written about both of these decks in their previous iterations, and the metagame hasn’t formed enough to spend page upon page over some tiny changes and the no-brainer Shards additions.
Monday, October 6th – The first PTQ of the Kyoto season was this past Saturday (at the time you are reading this, at least), and I’ve noticed a few things about the Shards Sealed format. Chief among them is that it really doesn’t matter how bad your pool is, if you open a Mythic Creature you almost can’t help but win.
Monday, October 6th – I’m back to writing about Limited for once, because I still do love it – and I did a little drafting and sealed play this weekend to take Shards for a spin. So let’s talk about the cards that were better than they looked… And the cards that were worse!
Friday, October 3rd – Taking an early look at Shards of Alara for Constructed play, it’s not hard to see why the Bant shard is getting the attention for Standard. While it is Naya that claims the most efficient monster, with a Thoctar so big you can see Russia from atop it and the low price of just three mana, it is Bant who claims the miniature Exalted Angel at that same price.
Friday, October 3rd – Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the Magic Show. After suffering through this past weekend’s prerelease festivities, something must be said. Thursday, October 2nd – Sealed Deck is the format I least enjoy of all Magic formats, you have so little control over what you get to play with, you’re really at the mercy of luck with what card pool you get. However, this was a prerelease, and this would let me play with these new cards before I could buy them… sure, why not?

Wednesday, October 1st – Tezzeret the Seeker received a lot of hype for being a Blue, Legacy-playable Mythic rare that powers up one of the most controversial Legacy decks. Kevin has a brand new decklist and a new take on some old gems.
Wednesday, October 1st – He’s done it! Rich Hagon mops his fevered brow and promises himself faithfully never to get into such a mighty undertaking as this five-part behemoth unawares ever again. But not before he completes the last lap of the farewell tour, with a ton of expensive goodies from Future Sight. Sanity will return next week.
Wednesday, October 1st – This article would not help you win a single game of Magic if everyone played games exclusively via MTGO. Fortunately, those of us who don’t play World of Warcraft are still relatively familiar with the phenomenon known as “real life,†and thus we sometimes occasionally every once in a while maybe just maybe interface with living, breathing human beings. If this happens in a Magical context, we might even shuffle up a physical deck of brown-backed insignia-inscribed trading cards.
Tuesday, September 30th – Shards of Alara makes its grand entrance into the Magic world, with Pre-Releases popping up in about a thousand times as many places as last year. Dave went, and came back not only with some prize packs, but with some real opinions about Shards of Alara.
Tuesday, September 30th – Okay, I tried it. Now can I say that I really hate it? Of course, I’m talking about the new Prerelease structure. You might suggest that I was predisposed to hate it, so obviously I self-fulfilled my prophecy and had a terrible time, but that doesn’t explain the fact that the literal everyone I talked to this past weekend was bummed for various reasons.
Tuesday, September 30th – Welcome to the first new Extended article in preparation for the next relevant Constructed season. The main subject of the day: Storm combo in Extended. We’ll begin with the Swath Storm Desire take on the combo, as it’s a rather obvious cross-over between the formats.

Monday, September 29th – Contrary to popular belief, I have to stand in line with everyone else and purchase cards from StarCityGames.com. Which means that when the new cards go up, I’m frantically looking through the list just like you, trying to find the ones that Ben’s underpriced and get the best bargains. And since a lot of my multiplayer articles revolve around the idea of “What are the best cards in this set?†I figured I might as well show you what Shards of Alara cards I ordered, and talk about why I wanted them.
