Monday, August 31st – This is a really exciting time to be playing Magic. M10 has been a huge success, the Standard format is relatively healthy (despite some degree of dominance by Vivid Land / Reflecting Pool decks), interest in Legacy and demand for Legacy events is higher than it has ever been, and the Vintage metagame is going through a state of flux.

Monday, August 31st – Before returning to Constructed with Zendikar, Todd Anderson has a handful of M10 drafts to play. Today, he takes us through another 8-4 draft from Magic Online, in which he leaves one of his most powerful bombs in the sideboard. Do you agree with his choices?

Friday, August 28th – It’s time to see if all our hard work is starting to pay off, as we head to the Red zone in M10, seeing how many lessons we’ve already learned can be applied to the latest bunch of cards coming under the microscope. A Planeswalker with an Ultimate ability worth using, an old favorite that might be more old than favorite, and a beginner’s guide to Self Harm are among the entertaining highlights.

Friday, August 28th – U.S. Nationals marked a year since my first attempt at Chicago to rise to Level 3 in the judge program. And in the last couple of months I’ve been asked by a lot of people whether I was going to try again anytime soon. To be honest I’m been seeking an all too elusive ‘quiet couple of months’ in which I could polish up on a few things before then setting my sights on a date.

Thursday, August 27th – Hello all, and welcome back to the column that explores the casual side of things. I am your writer, bringing you decks and formats and analysis for the casual side of the game. Kick up your heels and get ready for some decks!

Thursday, August 27th – A Facebook group has been promoting the idea of drafts, instead of sealed, as a Pro Tour qualifier format. Bill Stark, over at the Starkington Post, discussed the topic, as have some podcasters. Having worked a number of drafts at high-level events, I can talk about the logistics of a draft PTQ.

Thursday, August 27th – If you lose a game of Magic, you made a mistake somewhere. It can be in play, in mulligan decisions, or in deckbuilding. While a lot of people focus on the first two, deckbuilding errors, even minor ones, pile up over time and lead to a lot more game losses than people may realize. By building your deck better, you can give yourself the tools to play better.
