Friday, September 18th – Are we having State Champs this year? According to the Twitter buzz from some folks at Wizards the answer is… maybe. For players like me, what I loosely call the “casually competitive†crowd, States was the highlight of the year. With Standard in massive flux from the rotation, it often felt like anything was possible… with the right mix of luck and new card technology, you could be champ.
Friday, September 18th – We’re getting close to that time of year again. It’s the time of the year when Magic moves to another world and we get to see a brand new block. It’s also the time of year when we finally get to say goodbye to all the annoying nuisances of the past year.

Thursday, September 17th – I have a terrible problem for a Magic writer – I can’t find time to play. It’s terrible. Standard is interesting and diverse, M10 drafts are cool, MEDIII is here, Alara block drafts were free online, and Extended is rapidly evolving. And I can’t find the time to play any of them. To top it all off, there’s the Zendikar spoiler.

Wednesday, September 16th – As the pending set rotation looms ominously over competitive Magic, the mania over Zendikar continues. There are pundits a-plenty examining the new landscape. This week, we’re going to go a rundown of some of the new cards and/or themes I like in the new set, and why. Then, we’ll look at a potential Standard deck, then we’ll finish off with a potential Extended decklist for your consideration.

Wednesday, September 16th – It’s been a long time since any of us were truly thrilled about a new “large set†being released, as Shards of Alara wasn’t too hyped when it was released and Lorwyn’s return to tribal put a lot of people off. Time Spiral’s nostalgia theme was critical when it came to the hype for that set, but it seems like this time Zendikar is doing just fine on its own.
Tuesday, September 15th – Every fall, with the inclusion of the new Big Set, some cards have to be sent off to the big Extended Pile in the sky. This week, Dave looks back a little on what will be leaving us in a couple of weeks, and then looks forward to some more new (and old) Zendikar cards.
