Friday, November 27th – What has 89 levels of Head Judge and 16 stops in 2010? Jared explores what a Head Judge means to a large tournament, and reveals all of the Head Judges for the 2010 StarCityGames.com Opens. He explains why he’s really excited about this year’s crop and, whether you are a player or a judge, why you should be too!

The Chump Block – Block Head

Friday, November 27th – I played on MTGO dutifully for several years before I had my “awakening.” I would sit, when I had a spare 2 or 3 hours, and draft, shaking my fists towards the heavens out of jubilance or anger depending on the outcome. I would sell the rares that I was lucky enough to draft in order to feed my insatiable hunger for computer-based Magic…

Friday, November 27th – When I submitted my column last week, I was bouncing between playing my Pyromancer Ascension/Summoning Trap deck, my Eldrazi Goblin deck, and Takagi Yui’s Rite of Replication deck for FNM… Then I watched the video deck tech with Conley Woods from Worlds, and I fell in love with Magical Christmasland.

Thursday, November 26th – At Worlds, Charles Gindy was disqualified for Fraud when his opponent made a mistake. I can’t talk about that specific case – I wasn’t there – but I can explain the infraction and the penalty. With States coming up shortly, you need to know what’s legal, and what is going to send you home.

Thursday, November 26th – No matter how many PTQs from which I have dropped, or GPs at which I have failed to make Day 2, the life skills I have learned from Magic are firmly encrusted in my psyche. Magic has taught me more than just complex words and basic mathematical equations. It has improved my skills dramatically on all levels.

Constructed Criticism – A Roman Holiday

Thursday, November 26th – Four months ago, I made the U.S. National Team. This has been my biggest Magic accomplishment to date, and I’m very proud of it. However, making the National Team is nothing compared to making Top 8 at a Pro Tour or Worlds, so preparation for these tournaments has been my priority over the last few months.

Embracing The Chaos – Meet The Committee

Thursday, November 26th – It started as a tiny little format in a small community in the largest state in the union, and now we’re in the Comp Rules. Since all but one of us were in Rome for the World Championships (a bit of serendipity, certainly unplanned), it occurred to me that you might like to meet some of the folks that are the caretakers of your favorite format.

MTGCast #182 – It Makes You Go WOO WOO!

Whether you have a full estate or just a vacation home here, I hope there will be something in here for you. Today I want to focus on the recent Garruk versus Liliana set. Now that I have had a chance to play with them for a few weeks, I wanted to give you some thoughts and, as always, perhaps a few modifications.

Wednesday, November 25th – This past weekend, the Magic: the Gathering Worlds Championships were held in Rome, Italy. While there are a lot of stories and tech that is sure to come out of the event, I wanted to focus on a few innovative ideas that I saw perusing the top deck lists…

Wednesday, November 25th – The Magic World Championships: the pinnacle of competitive play, and the final showdown for the world title. This year‘s tournament was held in Rome, easily one of the most fitting settings for the finale. With another year in the books, there is much to discuss heading into the coming year.
