Thursday, August 28th – I have seen one recurring theme in forum posts – people keep describing Magic Online as “a license to print money,†and persist in saying that online packs are free. Now I know that virtual products have value: I get paid for these articles, even though they exist solely as bits. Digital items have value – but the deeper question is whether Magic Online is a profit center for Wizards. Let’s crank some numbers and see.

Wednesday, August 27th – I’ve been kicking around Necroskitter quite a bit lately, and I have to admit he’s much more impressive with a Doran in the house. Bulkowski’s got some seriously good quality creatures here with Fulminator Mage, Colossus, and Cloudthresher… Firespouts, Soul Snuffers, and Incremental Blight gives some serious creature-sweeper power.
Wednesday, August 27th – Many Magic players find Vintage fascinating because of the range of cards are available, which creates the most complex interactions in the game. Magic now stands at around 9000 cards available in the card pool; so, inevitably, there was more than passing interest at the Vintage tables, as many of the Nationals players came to see the most powerful decks in Magic battle it out for the title of Great Britain Vintage National Champion 2008.

Tuesday, August 26th – This weekend I rocked my last PTQ in NorCal, and other than a very long and boring drive up and the worst freeway on-ramp I’ve seen in a long time (more on that later), the PTQ was a pleasant experience. I have all the Top 8 lists, and some of them are doozies, including Mono-Green Elves, a Furystoke Giant deck, and a Merfolk Toast hybrid.
