Thursday, September 11th – For some time, I have been trying to play in an online Constructed tournament so I can write about the experience. The forums, and other writers, have complained about the state of Constructed online, so I wanted to see for myself. I set aside the time, found a deck and… well, the good news is that I am undefeated. The bad news is that I still haven’t played in a Constructed PE. Therein lies the story.

Thursday, September 11th – I have built hundreds of decks during my time as a writer here at StarCityGames.com. What I intend to do today is very simple. I am going to take some of the cards off my top 10 favorite cards list, and build a deck around them. Do you know that despite my regularly professed love for Scarwood Bandits in this column, that I have never built a deck around them? That ends today.

Wednesday, September 10th – I notice that, in general, not much strategy-article attention is given to local tournaments. Tuesday, September 9th – One of the big questions I always hear at tournaments is “how much did you test?” This is followed with the inevitable “was it was worth it?” Typically the answer is yes, but other times you’ll hear some long-winded admission of general failure, or just general disinterest that resulted from the process

Tuesday, September 9th – There’s no doubt that Sensei’s Divining Top is a very powerful card. In conjunction with fetch lands, it provides repeated top of the library manipulation, resulting in free “virtual card drawing.” The ability to keep good spells floating near the top of the library until needed has also led to a slight depowering of discard spells, with former standouts like Duress and Cabal Therapy seeing a decreasing amount of play.
