Removed From Game – Pro Tour: San Diego Report Card, Part One

Friday, March 12th – Four hundred and some players sat down for round one, and every one had a story to tell. We go inside the Day 1 numbers, and highlight some of the tales from the first PT of the 2010 season. How did your favorite Pros get on?
Ideas Unbound – Legacy Dredge

Friday, March 12th – If you are not playing Dredge in Legacy, you are doing it unbelievably wrong. The deck routinely deploys 9/9s on turn 2 or 3 and brings some number of 2/2s to the party for value. While doing this, you get to Cabal Therapy your opponent two or three times, and if for some reason that isn’t good enough, you also have unlimited 3/1s that leave Zombies behind when they die.
Positive EV – Playing Jund in San Diego

Friday, March 12th – The more Standard changes, the more it stays the same. With the StarCityGames.com Standard Open in Indianapolis this coming Saturday, the world is poised to see how many Jund decks make the Top 8. Manuel Bucher played Jund at Pro Tour: San Diego, and today he takes us through his tournament games and sideboarding strategies.
The Magic Show #179 – PT & ROE, Part 1

Friday, March 12th – Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the Magic Show. This week we’re taking a look at Worldwake Standard, the breakout stars from Pro Tour: San Diego to the upcoming release of Rise of the Eldrazi and some wicked spoilers. Let’s go!
The Wescoe Connection – Tricked Out White Weenie

Friday, March 12th – With the StarCityGames.com Standard Open this Saturday, eyes are turned to the more popular Standard decks in the metagame: Boss Naya, U/W Control, and (of course) Jund. However, Craig Wescoe believes that his White Weenie build, recently seen in the Top 8 of Pro Tour: San Diego, could be the strategy that takes home the bacon. Do you agree?
The Dragonmaster’s Lair – New Extended Decks

Friday, March 12th – While Extended is largely a format in which a variety of strategies can flourish, it seems that Zoo and Dark Depths are a touch overpowering. However, if you dig a little deeper, there is gold to be found. Brian Kibler examines a selection of interesting Extended lists that are currently flying under the radar…
You Lika The Juice? – Trying Landfall in Legacy

Friday, March 12th – Last week I talked about the Standard deck I ran at the StarCityGames.com Open in Richmond, but I didn’t go over what I had planned for Legacy. Since I’ve never actually played in a Legacy tournament before, it will probably come as no surprise that I wasn’t sure what I wanted to play. However, I did have something I wanted to try – bringing landfall to Legacy.
Yawgmoth’s Whimsy #316 – Now and Then

Thursday, March 11th – Last week, we had an all-time high in tournament participation. It got me thinking about how Magic has changed since I started playing late last century. We know what Magic is like now – let’s compare that to Magic from a decade ago. In some ways, it was radically different. In other ways – not so much.
Thirst for Knowledge – More on Attitude

Thursday, March 11th – Patrick Chapin once wrote an article about Magic etiquette. In that piece, he goes in-depth and discusses the importance of shaking hands after games, and how crucial it is to realize that the phrase “good games†means “thanks for not cheating or being shady†as opposed to “thanks for not getting mana-screwed and actually giving me a run for my money.†I really enjoyed Patrick’s article, but I feel like there is still more to be said.
