This week we’ve got some awesome footage from the StarCityGames.com Open in Atlanta, discuss the hot new decks that showed up there, and go over the the decks you will expect to see across tournament tables for the next few months. Friday, May 7th – Nationals Qualifier tournaments are on their way, and the Standard PTQ season is in full swing. Brian Kibler takes a look at two emerging strategies from the flowering metagame – UWR Planeswalkers and Mythic Conscription – and offers his thoughts on their strengths, weaknesses, and place in the format.
Friday, May 7th – Amid all the excitement that each new set brings over the past year or so, there’s also an undercurrent of dissatisfaction that I’m constantly hearing from everyday Magic players, and I’m feeling it myself. As a long-term fan of Magic, I’m a little worried about Mythic Rares and their impact on the cost of playing.

Thursday, May 6th – In preparation for Grand Prix: Lyon, Raphael Levy has been on a Rise of the Eldrazi drafting spree. Today, he takes us through three drafts in which he tried out definite archetypes, with mixed results. If you’re looking for a forty-card edge on the competition, let Raph lead the way!
Thursday, May 6th – There have been a lot of awesome new decks being debuted recently, what with the first week of PTQs, StarCityGames.com’s Atlanta 5K, the first results from European National Qualifiers, and so on. But, like, let’s be real. Jund has had Standard in a deathgrip for a while. Even if Rise of the Eldrazi will shake up Standard to the point where Jund is dethroned, people are still going to take a while to adapt.
Thursday, May 6th – I was the Local Liaison (a.k.a. Local Leader a.k.a. Executive Office) at Grand Prix: Houston. This job, in addition to being one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to spell, was an incredibly interesting position. In fact, LL at the GP is one of the coolest experiences I can imagine, second only to head of the DCI Ninja Assassin Team.
Thursday, May 6th – Gerry T has an admirable record in the fine city of Atlanta, and his winning streak continued at last weekend’s StarCityGames.com Atlanta Open. Today, he takes us through his Day 1 Standard performance with Open the Vaults, sharing a lot of laughs along the way.
Thursday, May 6th – Last weekend, Cedric rocked into Atlanta with some powerful decks and a will to win. Sadly, he didn’t manage to take home the big bucks, but he won a swathe of matches and had fun along the way. Today, he shares his decklists and thoughts on the Standard and Legacy metagames going forward.
Thursday, May 6th – In the weeks leading up to StarCityGames.com Atlanta Legacy Open tournament, I had done very little Legacy testing. I had tested Reanimator in the past and decided to play a list very similar to the one developed by Alix and Jesse Hatfield.
