The Long & Winding Road – Start With A Fishing Rod

Grand Prix GP Columbus July 30-August 1, 2010
Monday, July 26th – Results, results, results. Follow them. Try to understand them – when certain decks disappear, ask yourself if you know why. If you’re not sure, ask other people and see if you can determine a common theme. A lot of what happens in Magic metagames is cyclical. The exact cards change, but the shifts and the underlying metagame adjustments are often quite predictable, should you care enough to look for them.

Flow of Ideas – A (Slightly) Extended Look at Elves

Grand Prix GP Columbus July 30-August 1, 2010
Monday, July 26th – Though my hopes of going to Amsterdam have unfortunately been dashed like a semi-colon in an undergraduate essay, Extended is always a format I have always enjoyed. Eager to see what the new rotation would be like and to help my qualified friends playtest, I began work on a deck which has an incredible amount of potentiality and pseudo-survives the rotation: Elves.

Feature Article – Give ‘Em Hell, Kid

Grand Prix GP Columbus July 30-August 1, 2010
Monday, July 26th – I’m honestly not entirely sure what AJ Sacher was trying to accomplish in his article, but I have my guesses. I’m not offended by it, nor am I terribly insulted by it. You Lika The Juice? – A Staff of Power in EDH

Grand Prix GP Columbus July 30-August 1, 2010
Friday, July 23rd – I’m sure I’m not the first person to think about throwing a Thornbite Staff into an EDH deck, but I can also say with certainty that I haven’t seen it across from me in any EDH game I’ve played. At the very least, the card is flying under the radar, so I thought it would be a perfect sneaky, innocuous card to build around and, if things come together, I’d do something spectacular and surprising.
