Chatter of the Squirrel – How to Break a Format with Two Easy Questions

Read Zac Hill every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, June 24th – I feel like most Constructed decks are terrible. This is not meant in the same way that a lot of articles repeatedly emphasize that most players are terrible. Nor is the point to make some objective like declaration about power-level by saying that people play too many ‘bad cards’ or that most decks do ‘bad things.’

The Kitchen Table #291 – M10 Rules Changes and You

Read Abe Sargent every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, June 23rd – As most of you have heard by now, Wizards of the Coast has instituted a large number of rules and terminology changes as of M10. These changes were supposedly made with the casual fan in mind. As one of the few columnists with a dedicated casual column, this seemed like the perfect chance to chime in on recent changes, and give you my thoughts.

Tribal Thriftiness #72 – The Future’s So Bright

Read Dave Meeson every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Monday, June 22nd – With all the doom and anguish and woeful howls into the moonlit sky that have filled the Internetz for the last week, Dave began doubting the future of reality as we all know it. Is it really all that bad? Or are the Magic 2010 rules changes severely overhyped?

Constructed Criticism – Cutting Teeth on the Esper Stoneblade

Read Todd Anderson every week... at StarCityGames.com
Monday, June 22nd – Alara Block Constructed is a relevant format for Magic Online, and I’ve been playing a lot of it since Pro Tour: Cascade… erm, Honolulu. After last month’s debacle playing a “solid” looking Jund deck, I really needed a good idea to lift my spirits. Two people made Top 8 bashing with robots, and I really liked the look of the deck.

Friday, June 19th – The Atlanta StarCityGames.com $5000 Standard Open was a fairly disappointing tournament for me. I decided to battle with my trusty BW Tokens deck into a mediocre finish. I started off strong at 4-1, but lost a crucial game 3 against my friend Chris Greene in Round 6, and he went on to dominate the rest of the tournament with his ridiculous aggressive Jund deck.

Friday, June 19th – We had a lively M10 rules debate in the forum of last week’s column, and Patrick Chapin even dropped in with a lengthy defense of the rules changes. One tangent was fired off by my comment about how awesome I thought the new M10 dual lands were…

Friday, June 19th – My plan was to find an archetype I was resonating with a week or two before the event, then spend the remaining time tuning it. I discovered pretty quickly that the archetype had to involve Putrid Leech who, it turned out, was one of the more insane creatures to be printed in a long time. Char with buyback much?

Magical Hack – A Tale Of Three Cities

Friday, June 19th – We’ve reached about the middle of the season for the Pro Tour: Austin qualifier season, and I thought I would take a look at the trend in recent events to see where things are going and have a gander at figuring out the twists and turns of this particular metagame.

Thursday, June 18th – Wizards has announced some rule changes which will go into effect with M10 this summer. Things are changing. Change happens. Some of the changes will impact how the game is played. It’s not the end of the world. It isn’t the end of strategic play. Some cards will be better, some worse, but, overall, things will be fine. Seriously – I’ve been through a lot of rules changes, and this one is, comparatively, pretty insignificant.
