The Magic Show #151 – U.S. Nationals 2009

Watch Evan Erwin every week... on StarCityGames.com!
Friday, July 31st – Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the Magic Show. This week is another for the books, a show that will live in infamy, or at the very least be amongst the best I produce this year. Inside I talk to the biggest personalities in U.S. Magic, discuss a variety of topics and even debut a new financial value segment courtesy of Kelly Reid! Let’s go! Video Added!

The Kitchen Table #296 – Shandalar Allied Multicolor Decks

Read Abe Sargent every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, July 30th – Today is the 6th iteration of a series of articles that goes back to Shandalar decks, updates them once, then again, and gives various rules for each. These are some classic decks and ideas, made modern with a few new touches. With M10 a mixture of new and old, it felt like time to continue this series.

Practical Legacy – Interviewing an Ichorid Innovator

Read Anwar Ahmad every week... at StarCityGames.com
Thursday, July 30th – Innovation is often the combination of great effort and a moment of inspiration. Regardless of the pursuit, a great deal of time and energy is spent to achieve anything worthwhile. This applies to virtually every human endeavor, whether designing a piece of software, writing a novel, playing a musical piece, building and playing Magic decks as well as many others.

MTGCast #165 – Nationals and M10 Booster Box Giveaway!

Listen to MTGCast every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, July 29th – On this week’s edition of MTGCast, the guys talk about Nationals, the new FNM card giveaways, Zendikar rumors, and much more!

At the Gathering – How To Get Conned

Read Jeff Phillips every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, July 29th – This week, we’re delving into Conventions. Now, when I say Conventions, I of course include typical conventions, like GenCon, New York Comic Con, Origins, Wizards World Chicago, and DragonCon. However, we’re also going to include most Pro Tour and Grand Prix tournaments as well. Basically, any sufficiently large gathering of game-playing folk with a schedule and large events qualifies for our purposes.

Flow of Ideas – Building Standard Merfolk

Read Gavin Verhey every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, July 29th – For weeks leading up to Nationals, the deck I had been advocating was Merfolk. It had great matchups against most of the popular decks, and stayed extremely under the radar. I had given the deck to a handful of friends to play, but the rise of elves scared a lot of people off. However, with the format as it is after U.S. Nationals, I feel like Merfolk is still the deck to play right now.

The Starkington Post – Weekly Digest

Read the Starkington Post!
Tuesday, July 28th – In the past seven days, The Starkington Post (Bill Stark’s daily Magic blog) has brought us talk from a number of Nationals tournaments, videos of Japanese Legacy, and fun times with Catch Phrase.

Tribal Thriftiness #77 – Soldiering On

Read Dave Meeson every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, July 27th – This week, Dave waxes reminiscent of his past, remembering the fine military people that he met overseas.

The M10 Magic Academy – Blue Beginnings

Read Rich Hagon every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, July 28th – With White behind us, it’s time to look into the tricksy and thoughtful world of the Blue spells from M10. If your Magic game is in need of some back-to-fundamentals polishing, the Academy is the place for you. If you’re already a Magic savant and graduated long ago, tell your friends.

The Long & Winding Road – M10: Boston Market

Visit the StarCityGames.com booth at GP: Boston!
Monday, July 27th – I’ll be honest: I’m not normally a fan of articles that present a sealed pool and ask you to consider what you’d build. Often, the general decisions are pretty obvious, and some of the finer points come down to personal preference. Having said that, I’m presenting that exact type of article this week.

Legacy’s Allure – Matchup Analysis: Bant CounterTop versus Dreadstill

Read Doug Linn every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Monday, July 27th – Doug pits the currently-hot Dreadstill up against a Bant CounterTop list with Qasali Pridemages and other hot technologies to see which one reigns supreme. After playing several matches, Doug selected three choice games to illustrate several tactical decisions throughout the matchup. Can Dreadstill effectively lock up Bant’s mana? Can the Bant CounterTop deck soft-lock one of the premiere Counterbalance decks? Find out in this week’s Legacy’s Allure!

Justice League – Intuitive Interactions of Continuous Effects

Read The Justice League every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Friday, July 24th – It’s been quite a month of change for the humble Magic player and judge alike. We’ve been dragged kicking and screaming into the new M10 rules (albeit I was caught saying aloud, “Before damage goes on the stack” by Mike Suire at the prerelease last Sunday- it seems that old habits die hard).

You Lika The Juice? – Speeding Up Slowfolk

Visit the StarCityGames.com booth at Nationals!
Friday, July 24th – I love the Treefolk tribal stuff. Sadly, unlike Elementals, Treefolk doesn’t seem to have the juice to really kick ass outside of Doran, and he typically surrounds himself with a more able supporting cast.

Practical Legacy – Time Stands Still

Read Anwar Ahmad every week... at StarCityGames.com
Thursday, July 23rd – Many of the best spells in Legacy cost two or less, but most of these cards do not generate card advantage. Standstill is one of the few examples in Legacy where low mana cost meets card advantage. Its ability to draw three cards for only two mana makes it perhaps the most efficient card advantage spell in Legacy.

Yawgmoth’s Whimsy #285 – Ten Reasons Why Real Life Magic is Better than MTGO

Read Peter Jahn... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, July 23rd – In the last couple of weeks, I have had time to play in, or run, a few big events, a handful of drafts, and some Constructed events in the paper world. I have also had a chance to play online a fair amount. Paper Magic and digital Magic are different. Let me discuss the difference – and why Paper is better than Online.
