Embracing The Chaos – EDH League, Week 1

read Sheldon Menery every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 9th – I decided to play Kresh for week one of the league. I’ll probably rotate each week to keep things fresh and hopefully avoid getting metagamed (although it’s difficult for me to avoid using creature recursion from the graveyard – it’s just one of my favorite things to do).

MTGCast #175 – I’m All Out Of Bubblegum

Listen to MTGCast every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, October 8th – On this week’s edition of MTGCast, there’s talk on Priceless Treasures, all-foil boosters, Zendikar draft, and more!

The Justice League – The Big Show

Read The Justice League every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, October 8th – The year is 2006. The location is Charleston, South Carolina. Your humble author, after a couple years of working PTQs and Prereleases in game stores and convention centers throughout New England, steps onto the floor of his first Pro Tour…

Yawgmoth’s Whimsy #296 – If the Shoe Fits…

Read Peter Jahn... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, October 8th – Judging is a pretty thankless job. You are noticed, almost exclusively, when you screw up. The rest of the time, you have to be alert and working all the time. There are exceptions. Every once in a while, a player thanks you for judging. That really does help a long, hard day finish on a positive note. Those exceptions aside, though, judging is a lot of work.

Flow of Ideas – Introducing Sphinx Control in Standard

Read Gavin Verhey every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, October 8th – While all of my friends have been busy playtesting Extended and draft, I have been testing like mad for the upcoming LCQ in Austin. Ever since the spoiler hit, I have been working on Standard decks. Never have I turned down so many booster drafts in my life!

The Kitchen Table #306 – Zendikar and Five

Read Abe Sargent every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, October 7th – Today, I want to do my regular review of the latest set with an eye towards Five Color and other casual formats, like Peasant and Pauper-Prismatic-Singleton online, highlander, multiplayer and more. Instead of a typical set review, which lists every single card and then says whether they are good or not, I am just going to mention the hits. These are the cards I expect to see played regularly.

At the Gathering – Giddy like a Schoolboy

Read Jeff Phillips every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, October 7th – Zendikar Prereleases and Launch parties have passed, and we’re now getting into the Constructed portion of our thinking. However, there are still plenty of people drafting out there. My store, which normally has preferred Constructed for their regularly scheduled programming, is actually planning to rotate between Constructed and Draft every other week. Zendikar is a hit, and people everywhere are wanting to draft.

Thirst For Knowledge – Zen and the Art, Part 2

Read Chris Jobin every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, October 7th – I’ve known many players in my years spent playing Magic that have told me that they enjoy Limited far more than Constructed, and I’ve personally just never felt that way. Even when Standard degenerated into a joke like Lorwyn Standard, I still would rather sleeve up 60-card decks as opposed to a draft deck. While that hasn’t necessarily changed for me, Zendikar is beginning to show me why so many players worldwide value Limited so highly.

Removed From Game – Prerelease Hell

Read Rich Hagon every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, October 6th – It’s technically possible that you made more mistakes at your Prerelease than Rich did at his, although he rather doubts this. Read this article, however, and you’ll make fewer mistakes next time. Gosh, and all you have to do is click? Right you are!

Tribal Thriftiness #85 – Zendikar’s Top Uncommons

Read Dave Meeson every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, October 6th – Dave continues his look through Zendikar, focusing on the powerful uncommons, and the large number of Black cards prompts a budget MBC decklist too…

Legacy’s Allure – Busting Cthulhu Out of Dark Depths

Read Doug Linn every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, October 6th – Why spend thirty mana to get Marit Lage out of the icy prison of Dark Depths? We all know elder, ancient evils require mortal sacrifice, and there’s no better card to accomplish it with than Vampire Hexmage. This week, Doug looks at several methods of thawing Cthulhu for fun and evil. Further, Doug talks about strategies with Dark Depths that just don’t cut it. If you’re interested in decks that can put a 20/20 Flying, Indestructible, Legendary monster into play on the first turn, check out this week’s article!

Feature Article – The Zendikar Prerelease

Read Feature Articles every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Monday, October 5th – Wizards may continue to insert some Priceless Treasures in Worldwake, the follow-up to Zendikar. If that’s true, you may want to bring earplugs to that tournament. Because if someone opens up a treasure next to you, you might end up with hurt eardrums. I did.

The Long & Winding Road – Zendikar: Vintage Predictions

Read Matt Elias every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Monday, October 5th – I’ve purposefully avoided writing about Zendikar, because if you’re like me, you can only take so many preview articles before you tune out completely. Despite my intent to avoid writing such an article, I have had a large number of requests to discuss the set in reference to Vintage (and specifically any changes to Ichorid and Oath), so that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

Constructed Criticism – Standard and Extended

Read Todd Anderson every week... at StarCityGames.com
Monday, October 5th – Zoo is a deck that people will play even when it is clear that it is probably the wrong choice for the format. It is so fast and resilient that control players have a lot of trouble keeping you on the backfoot, even with cards like Engineered Explosives.

The Magic Show #160 – Zendikar: Designer’s Commentary

Watch Evan Erwin every week... on StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 2nd – Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the Magic Show. This week we’re going in-depth in Zendikar with Ken Nagle, one of the designers of the set, who sat down to talk to me about its mechanics, the power (and hype) of Lotus Cobra, the origins of Landfall, Ascension spells, Vampires, Planeswalkers, and more! Let’s go!
