Today, I’m going to explain why Magic Theory is important, what’s wrong with Magic Theory in general, and how to fix the problems. I’m going to set forward some rules and guidelines that should be followed when writing about theory. And… I’m going to introduce you to the hallowed digital halls of The Magic University.
Kartin’ Ken confuses Long kritics, White Urzatron control piques reader interest, and Vintage articles dominate the week, all in the latest edition of the StarCityGames.com Digest!
Due to the holidays equating to shorter weeks around here, I’m running a bit behind getting articles edited and put up on the site. When you combine the holidays with a bounty of New Year’s submissions and certain people consistently turning in thirty-plus page articles *ahem*Tan*ahem*, you can see how this might happen.
Whipped out white weenies, battles of big brains, and alliterative editors (not really), all in the first StarCityGames.com digest of 2004!
10 G’s for helping to catch thieves, Sullivan and Aten are qualifyin’, and Knut season greets with some Christmas beats all in the lastest edition of the StarCityGames.com Digest.
Wow, I can’t tell you the last time I wrote an actual”Mixed kNuts” column. You know, the kind with the Kitchen Sink, and the Cheesecake, and the randomness generally associated with, uh, me? Since it’s Christmas, I’m gifting myself (and verbing too) the time to write something fun, and since it’s not particularly fair to post some other writer on Christmas (nobody reads Christmas Day, silly), I’ll proudly fill the void.
Ben Rubin shows his Blue Collar, Romeo returns from the dead, and Type I Week causes a raucous ruckus, all in the lastest edition of The StarCityGames.com Digest.
Yann Hamon wins Munich, Tim Aten communes with the dead, and everybody talks about New Extended, all in the latest edition of the StarCityGames.com Digest
Playtesting began with me trying to learn how to play Kai’s Tinker deck he listed on Brainburst. Tragically, I somehow forgot that Kai no longer plays decks that normal mortals can grok. I was doing alright with the deck, but it felt like I never had anything locked away. I never drew the friggin’ Upheavals unless they were in my opening hand, Bosh always ended up in my damned hand so I couldn’t Tinker for him… I just wasn’t getting it. Even when I did get my win conditions on the board, the win never seemed inevitable.
I’m a sketchy player, people… inevitability of winning is important. One-turn kill? Yes please, thank you!
Bannings, The Twiddle Desire Godbook, and a guide to German Nightlife, all in the latest edition of the StarCityGames.com Digest!
Twelve-Land Decks, B/R Slivers, Osyp’s Main Chimp, and more, all in the latest edition of the StarCityGames.com Digest!
What an interesting week it was. For starters, the French took over the site last week, with two of their biggest stars writing fresh articles or giving interviews filled with oodles of information (to some Finnish guy named… Walamies?). Adrian Sullivan returned with not one, but two different articles. The new Managing Editor brought you the State of the Union Address, examining the history of StarCityGames, and setting the tone for future of the site, and the forums were hopping on every topic imaginable, so click through each of the articles below and see how the community responded.
Star City is the”scrub” site.
Star City is the issues site.
There are no good players at Star City.
There are no good writers at Star City.
Oh, how times have changed.
I can honestly say that last week was one of the strongest weeks we’ve ever had – there were five outstanding articles on Wednesday alone, and the rest of the week was almost as good. However, we put so much content up last week that you might have skipped past some great articles that should not go overlooked. This has been happening a lot – we’ve been looking at articles and going,”You know, those were great reads. Why didn’t more people look at them?” Therefore, every Monday from here on out, we’re going to look back at the week that was and single out articles that we feel deserve special mention….
