Hello everyone! We have some important updates and announcements about Grand Prix New Jersey today, including three new side events! I also have the
answers to a lot of the questions that you asked yesterday on Reddit. Because of how much there is to discuss, let me dive right in.
First order of business – we currently stand at 2445 players! Not only did we pick up 215 more players in the past 24 hours, but Grand Prix New Jersey is
now the fourth largest Magic event of all time! Our next milestone is 2672 players (Grand Prix Charlotte, 2013), and I believe we’ll be past that number by
tomorrow’s update.
I’m extremely excited to announce three new side events!
New Event #1: Urza’s Saga Sealed Deck Tournament
Format:
Each player receives an English Urza’s Saga Tournament Deck, an Italian Urza’s Legacy Booster Pack, and an English Urza’s Destiny Booster Pack to build

Since the space for this event is going to be extremely limited and we want everyone to have a chance to participate, we are going to select the eight
spots for the Revised Booster Draft through a lottery system. Here’s how it works:
1) Sign up for the chance to buy a spot in this draft here. Please don’t sign up unless
you plan on paying/playing in this booster draft if you are offered a slot!
2) Sign-up will be open from 2pm EST today (11/11/14) through 10am EST tomorrow (11/12/14).
3) At 10:01am EST tomorrow, we will randomly select eight players from everyone who signed up. These eight players will be contacted by SCG for direct
payment. If a player declines a spot, or we are unable to secure payment by 5pm EST on 11/12/14, we will select another player at random until all
slots are filled.
AMA Answers!
In addition to announcing these new events, I had an AMA yesterday on Reddit to field
questions about Grand Prix New Jersey. Here are some of the questions that were asked yesterday, with their answers!
Q: Do I have to be present at the start of the event to claim the player rewards?
A: Yes. You must be present at start of the event (or be a VIP, or have a sleep-in special) in order to receive your player rewards. You can’t sign up,
and then show up on Sunday to pick up your rewards.
Q: What are the artist’s hours?
A: We have updated magicgp.com with the hours of all artists that will be attending Grand Prix New Jersey!
Q: I heard that Zoltan Boros cancelled attending Grand Prix New Jersey. Is this true?
A: Unfortunately, Zoltan Boros had to cancel his appearance at Grand Prix New Jersey due to unforeseen circumstances.
Q: How do I get to the convention center using public transportation?
A: The New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center website has an excellent guide on reaching the Convention Center using public transportation, shuttles,
and cabs. Click here for tons of information about reaching the Convention Center if you
aren’t coming by car!
Q: You said yesterday that there was free parking at the Convention Center. How much free parking is there?
A: A lot. It’s one of the great features of this particular Convention Center!
Q: Will you be posting pairings online on a website?
A: Pairings will be tweeted @SCGPairings each round!
Q: What time will the last events start on Friday and Saturday? What time does the Expo Hall close on each day?
A: The last events start at 7pm on Friday and Saturday. The hall will soft close at 10pm each night, and we’ll make sure all members of the public are out
before midnight each day.
Q: Can I preregister onsite on Friday?
A: Absolutely! We will be taking on-site registration at the Grand Prix hall up until 10pm on Friday night! We will also be taking online registration
until that time, as well!
Q: Can I really tweet #GPNJBEN and get help during the event?
A: On Saturday and Sunday, I will be monitoring #GPNJBEN and making it my mission to help anyone at the event who needs help and tweets out to me!
