Friday, April 25th – Hello everybody, and welcome to another Prerelease Edition of the Magic Show. This week we’re in Nashville, TN and talking about the sights, sounds, and mana costs of Shadowmoor, what it means to players in the area and what they’re excited about from the new set.
Friday, April 25th – With Shadowmoor at our fingertips at last, all of the information that is really needed to figure out what the Standard metagame might look like at Pro Tour: Hollywood is now known. With the very last card now known and seen, we can begin working on building decks… and do that enough times, bashing cardboard into cardboard, and you’ll figure out what is going to be good in Standard come Hollywood.
Friday, April 25th – Magic Online Version 3 is finally here, and with it comes a barrage of problems, complaints, and requests. Players across the world are gnashing their teeth and pulling out their hair. So, what have Wizards got wrong, and what have Wizards go right? And, more importantly, where do things go from here?
Thursday, April 24th – Shadowmoor is coming, and everyone wants the new tech for their next Constructed tournament. Today, Luis Scott-Vargas presents us with his updated version of the once-dominant Makeshift Mannequin strategy, and shares a list packed with synergy and power. He looks at how Faeries might adapt with the addition of Shadowmoor, and he even brings us a Vintage list for good measure!
Thursday, April 24th – The official Shadowmoor release is mere days away, and with it comes a Bright and Shiny new metagame for Standard. While it seems Bitterblossom is still the card (and strategy) to beat, one of Magic’s oldest tribes gets a much-needed shot in the arm… Are the dreaded Goblins back, and do they have what it takes to bring down the Tier 1 decks?

Thursday, April 24th – Two things happened since last article. MTGO came back, and we had a prerelease. Neither of these was perfect, but both show some signs of progress. Overall, the weekend was not quite optimal. Only the weather was perfect, but I was inside most of the time…

Wednesday, April 23rd – It seems that the new set has everyone’s pulse racing, and Benjamin Peebles-Mundy is no exception. Today he shares his prerelease experience, with no less than three Sealed Deck cardpools and a couple of drafts for us to pick our way through. He also shares some of the more successful strategies he’s had of late, and highlights some cards and tactics of note for the format going forward.

Wednesday, April 23rd – Around Grand Prix: Daytona last year I mentioned that I wanted to write a theory article on Sealed Deck play, since I think the format as a whole is underrepresented in the body of Magic literature. Too many people think of it as “open your cards, look at your bombs, and play your removal.â€
Wednesday, April 23rd – I hope you were able to attend the Shadowmoor prerelease this past weekend; here in Richmond, quite a crowd mustered out to get their first taste of the new cards, and first impressions seemed to be that Shadowmoor Limited is chock-full of fast beatdown, along with synergies and combos that are often hard to handle.

Tuesday, April 22nd – Sealed with Shadowmoor ranges from the ‘worst ever’ when playing against creatures like the Lieges, Rhys the Redeemed, or Godhead of Awe, to pretty fun when you get to play the traditional G/R Aggro against slower control. The traditional baits and trickery occurs, and hybrid allows you to play more good cards then you usually could while presenting interesting mana exercises.
