Practical Legacy – Aggro-Combo-Control

Read Anwar Ahmad every week... at StarCityGames.com
Thursday, August 20th – Hybrid archetypes are those that combine parts of the three basic archetypes (aggro ,combo, control). Aggro-control decks are quite common in Legacy represented by decks like CounterTop, Merfolk, Dragon Stompy, and others. Combo-control decks are rare in Legacy but decks like Aluren and Solidarity can be out into this category. Aggro-Combo decks are not all that common, but decks like Elves are a good example of such an archetype in Legacy.

Thursday, August 20th – I’m back from GenCon. I watched a lot of Magic, and I have quite a pile of decklists. I also survived the Klingons, the fire, the flood, and a truck with no brakes. In short, a typical event.

Wednesday, August 19th – Have you ever had a day where you felt an unnatural surge of enlightenment? The kind of day where you rise in the morning knowing the decisions you make are going to significantly alter the rest of your life, and fall in the night knowing that your future has been set in motion. I have those days whenever an important decision is to be made. And because of them, I had the fire…

Thirst for Knowledge – Dethroning the Champ

Read Chris Jobin every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Wednesday, August 19th – With only three weeks left in the Austin qualifying season, choosing a deck is becoming increasingly difficult. Last week I talked about Five-Color Control and its position as the “best deck,” and I still stand by that. You’d need a very good reason not to play Five Color over something else, although I think the leading excuse would be because playing against the mirror all day is not an ideal thing.

Legacy’s Allure – Building For Legacy On A Budget

Read Doug Linn every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, August 18th – This week, Doug looks at some reader-submitted lists and offers cheap suggestions on building a more consistent and powerful Legacy deck. While these decks won’t win tournaments, they can hang with the top performers and can yield promising results for interested players. See how Doug improves a Pox list, a Mono-Black Aggro deck, a burn stack and more in this week’s Legacy’s Allure!

The M10 Academy – More Men In Black

Read Rich Hagon every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Tuesday, August 18th – A bumper selection of entries from the dark side take us from Duress to Zombie Goliath, via a mammothly disappointing Mythic Rare, a curiously disappointing Planeswalker, and an understandably disappointing joke about cheese slices.

Constructed Criticism – Drafting With Balefire Liege: M10 #2

Read Todd Anderson every week... at StarCityGames.com
Monday, August 17th – Since I received so many positive responses to last week’s article about my first online M10 draft, and also because I’m pretty bored with the current Standard environment (the only relevant environment at the moment), I thought I might do a few more drafts for your viewing pleasure.
