Wednesday, April 7th – At the time of writing, the Extended season is officially over for me. There is still another PTQ in the Midwest next weekend, but I don’t really have the means to make it to Chicago. I’m actually a little bummed about it too, since I finally found a deck that I felt good about: Congregation Zoo.

Thursday, April 1st – Extended Season is winding to a close, and the metagame is well documented. At the top of the heap we have the Combo and Aggro decks; in fact, the lack of control decks is perhaps the one missing link in the format. Wednesday, March 31st – At this time last year, I was fairly disappointed to see the Extended season come to an end. This year, however, I feel almost relieved. It isn’t that I actually enjoy Standard that much more at present, but rather that one can only see so many Wild Nacatls and 20/20s before he wants to hang himself.
Monday, March 29th – This week, I’ve learned a lot about Extended. While DDT continues to dominate, and win pretty much every tournament, I think a lot of that has to do with the abundance of people playing the deck in such a small tournament. Sure, the deck is really good, but if enough people play a really good deck, it is certain to put up good results.
Friday, March 26th – At Grand Prix: Yokohama, Brian Kibler returned to his Extended Zoo roots… only this time, he focused on Speed and Efficiency. With nary a Grove of the Burnwillows in sight, he proceeded to lay down the smack in fine fashion. He shares his tournament stories today.

Thursday, March 25th – We begin this step of the adventure in Kuala Lumpur, fresh off not making the second day at the Grand Prix there. Brian Kowal and I were both a bit in the dumps about coming so far only to scrub out. We made this up to ourselves seeing monkeys, eating delicious curries, and receiving massages, but those are all stories for another day.

Tuesday, March 23rd – Just when you thought that Gerry Thompson was fading away into the background, he’s done it again. In the online PTQ this past Sunday, two copies of his deck (or similar versions) made it all the way to the finals, piloted by Charles Gindy, as well as the eventual winner (whose name I do not know).
