Maybe it’s because Standard has felt so stagnant for so long, or maybe Brian Tinsman and company just really juiced this set with tons of intriguing cards and synergies. Whatever the reason, I’ve got tons of decklists I’m throwing against the wall to see what sticks, and a lot of them involve casting gigantic nightmare world-eaters.

It would be an Eternal format that the company could support by reprinting cards when necessary. The format would include cards from Mercadian Masques forward, and sets would never rotate out. In preparation for the event, he’s examined a number of archetypes in the current metagame, and today’s edition of One Step Ahead sees him share the lessons he’s learned thus far.
Wednesday, April 28th – I asked Patrick the question, “Would it be greedy to play only one copy of your win condition?” His respose, “I don’t think it would be greedy, I think it would be foolish.” We went on to discuss that See Beyond, the card which enables you to eject your win condition from your hand back into your deck, makes it less bad to draw a copy of your win condition.
