Tuesday, August 10th – It’s the time of the year that I get to exercise a Level 5 privilege: voting for the Hall of Fame. I’ll tell you who I voted for (and not) and why (and not), then give you a recap of my GenCon weekend.
Tuesday, August 10th – GenCon is always a hard weekend to evaluate. It isn’t just a tournament, like a Grand Prix or a PTQ. Admittedly, most tournaments are about the experience and the tournament both, for all but the most hardcore of pros. In that regard, GenCon offers an experience that’s rather difficult to match.

The bottom line is that Destructive Force is just absurd, but I’d accept “Primeval Titan decks†as a viable answer to the “best deck in Standard†question as well.

Monday, August 9th – Hall of Famer Olivier Ruel played Polymorph at French Nationals. While he wasn’t as successful as his brother Antoine, he certainly gave it a good effort. In his report today, he outlines his preparation for the tournament, and shares the highs and lows from the tournament floor.
Monday, August 9th – After a few weeks of cracking hard into Extended for no good reason other than, well, Extended is just fun to play, the past week has been a swan dive back into Standard. Now that the baseline decks are in line and constantly being reshaped week to week by various National Championships, with less than two weeks left before the opening of U.S. Nationals I have turned my sights toward trying out new ideas.
Monday, August 9th – This week, Doug reports on taking Legacy’s hottest new deck on a test-drive at GenCon. The deck uses Survival of the Fittest to power out free Vengevines on the back of Basking Rootwallas or sends flying Wild Mongrels over to smack around the opponent.
