Wizards of the Coast (WotC) announced today that the Magic: Legends Open Beta for PC begins on March 23.
Magic: Legends, the online action RPG by Cryptic Studios, will be available on Arc Games and the Epic Games Store on Tuesday. Players control a powerful planeswalker to take on an ancient foe that has emerged to threaten the Multiverse. The game takes place after the Great Mending of Dominaria but before the Hour of Devastation on Amonkhet. Magic: Legends is focused on co-op RPG play but also offers a 1v1 PvP experience as well.
Players can play as one of five classes then build spell decks from more than 170 different spells for their characters to wield. Magic: Legends is a free-to-play game, but has a monetization system built around an in-game currency you earn or can buy with real money to purchase additional classes or booster packs. You will not be able to buy specific spells with money, making it similar to Arena, where you have to crack packs or earn planar mana to unlock spells you desire. The game will also have a battle pass system similar to Arena and other popular games like Fortnite, League of Legends, and Call of Duty.
