Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Kacem “Noxious” Khilaji, here’s the newest Golgari hybrid from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths – Umori, the Collector!
Umori, the Collector is a very unique card, and one of the first to feature a brand new mechanic from Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths – companion.
Companion – Each nonland card in your starting deck shares a card type. (If this card is your chosen companion, you may cast it once from outside the game.)
The Legendary Ooze boasts a great set of stats (four-mana 4/5) and notably adds both black and green to devotion counts.
As Umori, the Collector enters the battlefield, choose a card type. Spells you cast of the chosen card type cost 1 less to cast.
While not apparently overpowered, Umori’s ability could prove to be strong in multiple formats where tribal synergies are popular, including Pioneer and possibly even Commander in the right deck.
