When the alternate art Godzilla Series Monster card for Void Beckoner was created originally, it was named Spacegodzilla, Death Corona. The name came from Spacegodzilla’s breath weapon, the Corona Beam. But in light of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic the name takes on more meaning, something Wizards of the Coast (WotC) doesn’t want associated with the card.
While the first printing of Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths will include the original name, all future printings and appearances on Magic Arena will have the name Spacegodzilla, Void Invader. Additionally, Magic Online, which will be offering the special Godzilla Series Monster versions of cards only in Treasure Chests, will not distribute this card at all.
The card Spacegodzilla is based off, Void Beckoner, will not be changed in any way.
