From The Lab – Whatever Happened to the Great White Hype?

Craig “The Professor” Jones was looking forward to Pro Tour: Yokohama. Constructed Magic… his strength. Of course, as you know, things didn’t quite go to plan for Mr Jones, and a healthy start to Day 1 sadly melted away under the harsh neon lights. In today’s From The Lab, Prof takes us through his preparation for the tournament, shares some of the more entertaining stories from the trip itself, and reveals the reason why White Weenie disappeared without trace…

Yesterday’s Feature Article — to be found below today’s From The Lab — saw Patrick “The Innovator” Chapin don his Inquisitive Hat in order to grill Mike Flores about All Things Magical. Today’s Flores Friday sees the boot, or rather the Hat, on the other… erm… foot. Mike asks the questions, and Patrick reveals all! Who’s the greatest deck designer in the world? What’s the best card in Block? Do the Future Sight rare lands deserve our attention, and which is the strongest? If you liked Patrick’s article, you’ll love this…

The Kitchen Table #178 — Future Sight and Five

Hello folks and welcome back to the longest running series in my column. This series reaches all the way back to Onslaught and has hit every Magic set since. In today’s article I am going to look at the cards from Future Sight and evaluate them in terms of Five Color.

Tact or Friction — Drought Project #3: The End

We have a lot of ground to cover, and I’m actually trying to be as brief as I can be this week. Right now, I’m looking at it in the unedited form, at seven pages, and realize that, just maybe, brief isn’t happening. I’ll talk about Future Sight next week, and then fatties (and Green fatties specifically) the week after that, I promise. But I have to finish this up, and I can take you along with me along the way to the final point, and you can play the forum game of “give it a better name than I did.”

Chatter of the Squirrel — Giddy

Today’s Chatter of the Squirrel touches on a number of topics. He looks at Frank Karsten’s deck from Pro Tour: Yokohama, which makes him a little giddy. He examines the Mono-Red Block deck in relation to the framework he laid down in last week’s article. He revisits old ground, speaks him mind, and clarifies his position re: entitlement. Zac Hill… fun for all the family!

Drafting With Rich – TTP #17

You all know the drill by now… Rich Hoaen, Canada’s finest and grumpiest draft export, takes us by the hand and drags us through the rollercoaster ride of an 8-4 TTP Draft on Magic Online. From pick 1 to pick 45, Rich shares them all, and his final deck and draft performance are analysed in the article, the forums, and beyond. Come join in the fun!

Peebles Primers — Drafting With Future Sight: Red and Black

Armed with a sack-full of product acquired by successful times at the Future Sight Prerelease, Benjamin Peebles-Mundy has been drafting TPF at an alarming rate! Today, he presents the first in what promises to be an entertaining series, evaluating the Red and Black commons for competitive Limited play. He runs through each common in order of relevance, and shows us the hits and the misses from Magic’s newest set!

Levelling Up – Yokohama, Part 1

Before Pro Tour: Yokohama, Tiago did the fashionable thing and hooked up with the Dutchies for some serious playtesting. Today’s Levelling Up brings us the results from those intensive playtest sessions. Deck archetypes and lists are discussed and debunked in equal measure, with the positive and negative points of each build laid bare for all to see. If you’re looking for the low-down on Time Spiral Block Constructed, look no further!

Feature Article – Interview with the Resident Genius, Michael J. Flores

In the StarCityGames.com 2006 Awards article, Mike Flores was voted Writer of the Year… but running him a close second was Patrick “The Innovator” Chapin. Today’s Feature Article sees Patrick pick up the microphone and pose the questions to the man that many love to hate… the Resident Genius himself! Mike tells us of his favorite Flores decks, his favorite Magic writers, and reveals why PTQ players struggle to make it to the next level…

Magic Grab Bag #15 – Cult of Personality

Rivien takes us through each and every creature from Future Sight, and evaluates them for Tribal Standard play. Are the Humans horrendous? Are the Illusions illustrious? Are the Wizards wonderful? Read on to find out!

Ask The Drama — Future Sight, Mono-Green, and Play-Styles

Today’s instalment of Ask The Drama has Jeroen waxing lyrical on a number of important topics, both Magical and non-Magical. Does Future Sight bring anything to the Mono-Green Aggro decks? What’s the best way to begin building a midrange deck? Is age and gender a barrier to success in this wonderful game? And is it difficult to learn Dutch? All this, and more, answered within!

Deconstructing Constructed – Dwelling on the Past and Looking to the Future

This week the plan was to go over the Top 8 decks from Pro Tour: Yokohama and analyze anything new or exciting to come out of the tournament. Slight problem, though… there was nothing new to report. The Top 8 consisted of slightly more refined versions of the decks that have seen play on MTGO or at the Grand Prix Trials thus far.

You Lika the Juice? – My Future Sight Review, Part XL

Future Sight is here and I see that I’ve been Timeshifted to Wednesdays. Apparently Craig wanted to get the MTGO jump on MagictheGathering.com’s column, so I’ve been moved and now get to go up against the fellow who bumped me from my weekly gig over there. So revenge is mine – I get to challenge Mr. Karsten head on!
