AuthorGeordie Tait

Geordie Tait began playing Magic in 1998, and went on to become one of the most popular StarCityGames.com columnists in the site's history. After a brief hiatus from the game, Geordie is back, and better than ever.

The Daily Shot: The Onslaught Blue Set Review, A – I

If I can give you guys something fun to read for fifteen minutes, it’s worth it. I like Magic. I like to write. You think something as piddling as a complete lack of an entertaining premise is going to stop the likes of me? Nah. Now grab me a cold one and let’s do Blue before I lose my nerve.

The Daily Shot: Captionville, USA

One of the most overlooked aspects of the Sideboard coverage for any given event is the”Photo Coverage”. In an effort to draw greater attention to the fine work of the Sideboard team, I figured I’d better put new captions on these things.

The Daily Shot: Giant Idiots Ruin Columns

Playing Onslaught sealed is like dialing a phone, while drunk, with heavy gloves on. Big, exaggerated motions that mash multiple buttons at once, with random results. Who can mash harder?

The Daily Shot: The Onslaught White Review, H – Z

While that powerhouse engine let you draw cards of the type of your choice, the Sylvan/Words Of Worship engine has you gaining massive life every turn – ten per turn, per Sylvan. Add to that the fact that you can turn your normal cantrips into lifegain cards, and you’ve got some serious potential.

The Daily Shot: The Onslaught White Set Review, A – G

I know, I know. Everybody is going to be doing a set review –
and eventually, you’ll want to swear off reading set reviews altogether. I feel your pain, I really do. Just… Trust me on this one. Before you get burned out on set reviews and Onslaught discussion, try to give me a chance.

The Daily Shot: My Amazing Grand Prix Trial Win, Part Two

Now, if my last card is anything but Krosan Reclamation, the board will be my 4/4 and 2/2 against his 2/2 potential first striker and 4/4 first striking land, with his Glory in the graveyard. With Joe at twelve life and yours truly at seven, he could race with no problem. Topdeck or no?

The Daily Shot: My Amazing Grand Prix Trial Win, Part One

Most games involve a lot of swinging with tight men. You know how this deck works: Get threshold, beat face, end game. Sideboard. Repeat. It’s rock-solid, and all you need is one island and one forest. It’s great against other U/G decks because it’s faster, and it’s great against Monoblack because of the sideboard and the fact that it can take Game 1 on a semi-regular basis.

The Daily Shot: The Decks Of Geordie Tait

Geordie 8-0’d the Grand Prix trial the night before Cleveland… But what decks did he go through before that precious night, and what lessons did he learn about OBC?

The Daily Shot: Meet The Players

I don’t get many chances to play at high-level events while rubbing elbows with many of Magic’s elite, and missing a massive player gathering that was a mere four hours away would be just crazy. Apparently a few people in the area agreed with me, because we ended up taking eight people down past Toledo and into lion’s den. Let me give you a quick rundown of the Sarnia contingent.

The Daily Shot: Cleveland In A Nutshell

Well, Geordie and his friend both aced the grinder trial the night before Grand Prix – Cleveland, finishing first and second. Geordie didn’t do as well as he would have liked, and a Frosty was all that lay between Kevin Phelan and Day 2. Read on!

The Daily Shot: Identifying The Wily Tait

If you want to track down the elusive internet writer, a species rarely seen outside of the nest (or,”basement”), you need to get the lowdown on the habits and appearance of said target. What will Geordie look like at GP: Cleveland?

The Daily Shot: Life, The Universe, and GP Cleveland

You can’t get a chuckle out of ten paragraphs of me kissing Henry Stern’s butt and calling it perfume; that’s no rant. Readers want to live vicariously through your little R&D grouchfest. But you have to keep reality in mind, folks.

The Daily Shot: How Legends Are Borne

Mirri, Cat Warrior. Thriss, Nantuko Primus. Kamahl, Pit Fighter. Legends have long been a feature of Magic most revered by casual players and storyline aficionados the world over. Legends have mystique… But that mystique disappears when it comes to Constructed.

The Daily Shot: Who The Hell Is Team Member #3?

I could stumble into the patent office, high on crack, and trip over a better idea than Stern Judge as a”hoser” for monoblack. What was R&D doing? I guess they were too busy grooming Benevolent Bodyguard to be the second coming of Savannah Lion, or taking rotating hits off of someone’s exhaust pipe, or something like that.

The Daily Shot: Magic Poll Theater 3000 – 8th Edition Summer, Part II

Tim:”I’m not going to calm down! I’m going to say it loud and proud – screw the people who enjoy playing Ensnaring Bridge and Static Orb!”
