Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced a new introductory-level Magic event for WPN-affiliated local game stores (LGS) — Avengers Academy.
From June 12-18, two weeks before the release of Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes, new and experienced players alike can attend Avengers Academy at their LGS in the United States and Canada. These Two-Headed Giant-format events are designed to be the perfect introduction to Magic, especially for fans of Marvel.
Each participant will receive one of five Marvel Super Heroes Welcome Decks, each of which include two 30-card half decks – one “…featuring the character on the package and another 30-card half-deck of a different color.”
After you and your partner select a half deck, you’ll have the opportunity to dive in to super casual games of Magic against other two-player teams without the pressure of “…rounds, standings, or ranked prizes…”, providing the perfect environment to learn the game.
As an added bonus, players who attend Avengers Academy and then join a Two-Headed Giant Marvel Super Heroes Prerelease event the following weekend (June 19-21) will receive a pair of wearable Loki horns (while supplies last).
