FINAL JUDGEMENT: Good-bye Doesn’t Mean Forever

Most of you who are regular readers my columns know that I’m in the US Air Force. Now I’m getting the opportunity to go off to somewhere a little more exciting for a few months.

Most of you who are regular readers of Star City and my columns know that I’m in the US Air Force. Unlike most of my comrades-in-arms, I’ve spent the majority of my career working in nice staff jobs or behind a desk somewhere. Now I’m getting the opportunity to go off to somewhere a little more exciting for a few months.

Unfortunately, that means I’m not going to be available for”Final Judgment” or”Ask the Judge” for a while. The Ferrett has engaged my good friend Gis Hoogendijk to pinch-hit for me in”Ask the Judge,” but”Final Judgement” is just going to have to hang until I get back.

Gis is, in my opinion, one of the best Judges in the world. Our DCI careers have mirrored each other since the olden days. We were both certified Level 3 at the same time (Grand Prix Antwerpen) and recertified on the same date at Pro Tour London ’99. We’ve worked together at every level imaginable, from little local tourneys all the way up to the World Championships. Trust me, you’re getting a quality replacement.

I’ll be at Nationals this week – so if you’re there, please come up and say hello. I’d love to shake hands and chat with some of the thousands of folks that have written to me over the past few years that I’ve been with Star City. It’ll be nice to put some faces to the names.

After that, I’ll be back sometime in mid- to late-September. I’ll still be reading my regular email ([email protected]), so if you want to drop me a line and say”hey,” please do; I’d love to hear from you. Otherwise, I’ll see you in a few months. It’s been a pleasure serving you.

And that’s my Final Judgement.
