Monday, March 31st – This month, Doug highlights a combo deck that’s been flying mostly under the radar for a few months. It uses that broken classic engine, Food Chain, with some oddball creatures from Lorwyn and beyond. See how to integrate the Future Sight Pacts into a consistent and powerful combination. Additionally, get an update on the Enchantress deck profiled last month in Unlocking Legacy.

Tuesday, March 25th – In the last few weeks, a wealth of information has exploded onto the Magic scene. Unfortunately, not much of this is Legacy info. Fortunately, it’s Extended info, and never before have two formats resembled each other as much as Legacy and Extended do this season. I firmly believe that the parallels between the two formats can be used to uncover technology that may have been overlooked by the people focusing on one format, but not the other.

Wednesday, March 19th – Anyone who knows my writing from other websites knows that I need little provocation to write a tournament report. If someone looks at me cross-eyed: I’ll write a tournament report. If I stub a toe on the coffee table in living room while drunk: I’ll write a tournament report. And when I have two first place finishes at local Legacy tournaments fresh in my memory, you can bet your ass I’ll write a tournament report.
Monday, March 10th – Christopher Coppola updates his standing banned list recommendations and discusses the reasons for the changes.

Monday, February 11th – Today’s article addresses a commonly made mistake – incorrect mulliganing. The underused resource of mulliganing has effects on design, and Chris talks about and how to avoid it both as a player and a deckbuilder.

Learn new strategies and SAT words this week as Doug covers a mixture of topics in the format, ranging from the paucity of Legacy events to the effect of Morningtide on the Eternal scene. Do Earwig Squad and Bitterblossom have a place in Legacy? Will Maralen of the Mornsong be welcomed into Magic’s greatest format? Also, find out what Extended deck could be the next hot thing in Legacy and check out a Morningtide-ready Landstill list!

Last month, I unveiled the latest deck I’ve been working on, and my submission to mtgTheSource’s “Create a New Good Deck†contest, The EPIC Control (TEC). The response to the decklist was about what I had expected, which was a few people, mostly those who had seen the deck in action, praising the work we’ve done on it, and a whole lot more people calling every card choice into question. As this isn’t the first time I’ve written an article on a deck that throws convention out the window, I’m used to it at this point.

At 2007 Worlds, Threshold claimed the title of “Best Deck in Legacy,” making the Threshold mirror match the most important and prevalent matchup for the deck. Kevin Binswanger has a guide to building, playing, and sideboarding for the mirror.

Christopher Coppola continues his discussion of UGB Threshold, talks about the threshold mirror, and gives some sideboarding plans for a few common matchups.

In the wake of Worlds, we have several new and revitalized decks to pore over. Doug takes a look at Welder Survival, long a deck sitting just beyond the horizon in the metagame, and brought to new attention by Worlds coverage. Find out how it ranks and tests and read Stuart Wright’s thoughts on the deck. Also, read about the importance of testing to learn and not to win and what makes a good testing partner!

This week’s Unlocking Legacy brings you the latest creation from Legacy’s leading innovators, The EPIC Syndicate. If you’re looking for some brand spanking new Legacy technology, then look no further. In part one of his series on the deck, Adam shares the decklist and explains some of the theory and reasoning behind the card selections of TEC – The EPIC Control.
