Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has revealed the exclusive Magic: The Gathering promos for the upcoming Japan Standard Cup, as well as major updates to the event’s structure.
In years past, the Japan Standard Cup was a massive, open-style tournament held during the Players Convention — one of Japan’s largest annual Magic conventions. Starting with Players Convention Kyoto 2026 (March 14-15), the Japan Standard Cup will be divided into multiple smaller, Swiss-style events.

According to WotC, the goal of the change is to “lower the hurdles for participation,” and allow more players to participate over the course of the weekend. As for the distribution of promos, one will be given out as a participation incentive, while the other will be reserved for players who go undefeated (5-0) in their respective events. Check out the promos below!
