Flores Friday – A Rith’s Charm Combo Deck in Extended

Mike narrowly missed Top 8 this week with a deck that you simply have to see to believe. There is really nothing else to say, or can be said, than that.

With over thirty Drafting With Tiago drafts to his name, Portugal’s Magic dynamo looks back and takes stock of the first thirty in the series. From humble beginnings, in which the Shriekmaws did flow and the world vomited elves into his lap, to the more experimental strategies and picks he has tried, Tiago breaks down what has, and what hasn’t, been successful thus far…

Tiago Chan, Portugal’s Magic dynamo, takes us by the hand and leads us through the choppy waters of a triple-Lorwyn draft on Magic Online. He shares each and every pick, from one to forty-five, and supplies expert commentary on the draft and the games. For more detailed information, visit the forums!

Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the Magic Show. This past week I was fortunate enough to spend a weekend in Roanoke, Virginia for the PTQ and $1K tournament. This means that, yes, the Morningtide content will be pushed to next week, but until then you can hear about Extended from the competitors themselves! This includes a deck tech from Top 4 competitor Mike Ward and match coverage of the finals of the $1K.

Often, I pride myself on my ability to figure out what is important to a Constructed format, and build around that in a complicated dance of design and re-design. I seek to find a deck that I am comfortable with that I believe will do well. Usually this works… often enough that, among other things, it got me a weekly column, back in the Stone Age of the Internet when our caveman forebears sent each other stone tablets carved with Uck Norris jokes.
Eli tells us exactly what he wants to see from the Magic coverage establishment and throws down a gauntlet. Will you be the one who takes it up?

With the Week 1 Extended PTQ results now in Richard Feldman looks at the trends and patterns from the successful decklists across the world. It’s clear that there are four major contenders in the modern Extended metagame. Planning your next PTQ trip with these decks in mind is a surefire way to gain an advantage on the field.

Extended is a rich tapestry of options, and Kyle is almost driven blind by the sweetmeats on display. Today’s Down And Dirty sees Mr Sanchez swinging with the guy he feels is the best creature in Extended. And no, it’s not a Green guy from Future Sight… Intrigued? Then read on!

The Extended PTQ season is beginning. A lot of people will be writing about the techie new decks, and what won which PTQ. I’ll chip in with a couple of other thoughts: on metagaming and netdecking, on slow play, and on Morningtide – which will be part of the Extended metagame starting February first.
Dave tires of playing mere sixty-card decks. Dave struggles against the oppression of “four-of†deck construction. Dave yearns to take to the skies and lead his forces to victory! So barring playing with Form of the Dragon, how can Dave shed his meager mortal mage shell and fly, free from the constrictions of tournament Magic? By heading out for a little Elder Dragon Highlander, of course.

Hello folks, and welcome back to the column charged with the exploration of all things casual. I’m your continuing host, Abe Sargent. Today, I have a significant treat for all Five Color fans out there.

Vintage, it seems, has turned from the combo table, opting instead to feast on the attack step. Stephen Menendian, Vintage World Champion, takes his GAT deck into the Workshop Aggro fray, with mixed results. As usual, the detail in his report is phenomenal, and the insight he offers cannot be ignored. If you’re looking for an edge at your next Vintage tournament, look no further!

The PTQ results are in, and it seems the Extended metagame is as diverse as we’d hoped… and as confusing as we’d feared. Nevertheless, though the fog we can see a few beacons of strength, and Aggro Doran is one such light. Today’s Peebles Primers takes a long look at the deck that packs the colorful treefolk, and leads us through the matchups and sideboarding against a number of key strategies…
