Constructed Criticism – A Quest For Victory

The StarCityGames.com $5,000 Standard Open Series Comes to Nashville!
Monday, October 26th – The StarCityGames.com $5000 Standard Open in Nashville is a little under two weeks away, and should provide a great testing opportunity for Worlds, not to mention a way to make some dough. After blowing through about $400 on my trip to Austin, I figured this could be a good way to recoup my losses.

The Long & Winding Road – NYSE III: Tournament Report

The StarCityGames.com $5,000 Standard Open Series Comes to Nashville!
Monday, October 26th – The impact of Zendikar on Vintage has already been significant. Although the fetchlands have had a minimal impact thus far (for instance, some TPS lists are splashing Red on a Badlands and Scalding Tarn), other cards are rapidly making their presence felt. Chief among these have been Spell Pierce and Iona, Shield of Emeria, both of which are powerful additions to Oath of Druids decks.

Feature Article – Legacy Meta What?

The StarCityGames.com $5,000 Standard Open Series Comes to Nashville!
Monday, October 26th – What deck sits atop the mountain as the best? Who’s the top dog? Well, this is Legacy. You might win king of the hill, but only for a day. The heroine truth? No deck is the best. That’s right, none. Never has and never will.

The Dragonmaster’s Lair – Pre-Austin Preparation

Read Brian Kibler every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 23rd – Last weekend, Brian Kibler won a Pro Tour. Understandably, he’s not yet descended from his cloud of joy long enough to cogently pen a tournament report. Today, as a teaser to a report coming next week, Brian shares his preparation process, providing insights and lists that sprang from working alongside some of the top names in the game today! Congratulations Brian!

Reflecting Ruel – A Pro Tour: Austin Report

Insider Information – Pro Tour: Austin and Me

Read Cedric Phillips every week... At StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 23rd – Cedric Phillips ran with the Robots at last weekend’s Pro Tour: Austin. While he never quite lit up the room (other than with his natty suit), Mister Kithkin still had a fantastic time. He presents his tournament story today, with Standard chat and a funky new Extended deck…

You Lika The Juice? – Marit Lage the Old-Fashioned Way

Read Bennie Smith every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 23rd – My first foray into the new Standard was disappointing. I built a fairly stock Vampires deck for Josh, and for myself took an experimental monowhite deck for a test drive, and both of us ended up at 2-2. The EDH league provides a nice consolation prize for those whose FNM comes to an abrupt end, so I pulled out my Rofellos deck and went to work casting gigantic spells.

The Secret Lair – Lorwyn/Shadowmoor: Loves, Hates, and Things I Missed

read Craig Jones every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 23rd – MTGO is currently reading (for me) “downloading 1 of 574 files,” so I guess that means Zendikar has arrived. Before I get a chance to draft the new cards with a fervor (okay, slight interest), I thought I’d look back over the departing block…

The Justice League – My Opponent Disqualified Me…

Read The Justice League every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Friday, October 23rd – To the surprise of many, it was announced a few weeks ago that people registered as a judge, TO, or scorekeeper in an event may also play in it. This means your next FNM opponent could be the Head Judge, the store owner/tournament organizer, or possibly both.

Sullivan Library – Extended: The Post-Austin Analysis

Visit the StarCityGames.com booth at Grand Prix Tampa!
Thursday, October 22nd – Pro Tour: Austin is in the books, and it’s time to take stock of the results. As usual in mixed-format events, the true strength of the Constructed decks cannot be distinguished at first glance. Adrian Sullivan dissects the statistics and reveals the winners and losers in all their glory…

Flow of Ideas – Stories, Adventures, and Decklists from Pro Tour: Austin Part 1

Read Gavin Verhey every week... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, October 22nd – My adventure to Texas was an exciting one. Four and a half days of playing Magic, having fun, and spending time with some of my favorite people in the world is exactly why I love this game so much. If you’ve never been to a Pro Tour, it’s not always about how you actually do in the tournament(s) you play in, but the adventure along the way.

Yawgmoth’s Whimsy #298 – PT: Austin and the Aftermath

Read Peter Jahn... at StarCityGames.com!
Thursday, October 22nd – I’m back from Pro Tour: Austin. Wow! What a great PT. By now, you probably know about Brian Kibler coming back from 0-2 and racing Progenitus, but that was only part of the awesomeness. Plus, I have an update on the MTGO Community Challenge Cup.
