News that will majorly impact multiple Constructed formats was buried deep in today’s Secret Lair announcement in the form of a note declaring Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath will be banned in Pioneer, Modern, and Historic.

Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath

The Wrath of Uro will soon no longer be felt in at least three formats, while it’s fate in Legacy is still up in the air. Check out the note by Wizards of the Coast that was paired with the announcement of a new alternate art version of the Theros Beyond Death Elder Giant.

(Note: We are planning an upcoming B&R announcement. In that announcement, we plan to ban Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath in Pioneer, Modern, and Historic. Additionally, we are continuing discussions about doing the same in Legacy. While we are still working internally on the larger B&R announcement for that week, we wanted to share this information ahead of this sale.

Uro, Primeval Titan, and Frost Titan are getting the special Kaldheim frame variant in the Showcase: Kaldheim — Part 1 Secret Lair drop. Kroxa, Titan of Death’s Hunger will also be getting the treatment in a drop with Inferno Titan and Grave Titan.

While the note didn’t specify a date for when the banning was coming, the news was welcome among Magic players who have had to face down the Elder Giant in every format other than Vintage. Uro was already banned in Standard months ago, leaving it to dominate almost every non-rotating format.
