Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath Banned In Standard

Uro, Titan of Natures Wrath’s reign of terror in Standard comes to an end.

Wizards of the Coast (WotC) has announced that the Theros Beyond Death all-star, Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath, is now banned in Standard.

According to WotC, data collected from the millions of digital games played since the release of Zendikar Rising indicated a drastic rise in Four-Color Ramp strategies, powered by Uro and Omnath, Locus of Creation.

Initially, WotC intended to “…allow the metagame to adapt to the last set of Standard changes and the imminent rotation before making a decision on whether to let it remain a part of the environment going forward…” but Uro proved to simply be too strong in the fledgling Standard meta.

Our goal is to bring these decks down to a level where they are still appealing and competitive, but where natural metagame forces are enough to keep them in check.

Also important to note, WotC states that their aim with this ban was focused “…primarily on Standard and Historic, with an eye for the upcoming 2020 Season Grand Finals…”, but changes to other formats (if needed) will be included in future Banned and Restricted updates.
