The Mindflayer Makes Its MTG Debut In Adventures In The Forgotten Realms

The Mindflayer arrives to terrorize MTG and D&D players.

Courtesy of Wizards of the Coast (WotC) and Danny Trejo, one of Dungeons & Dragons most iconic monsters, The Mindflayer (!), makes its Magic: The Gathering debut in Adventures in the Forgotten Realms — Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar!

Whenever a creature you control becomes blocked, you may return it to its owner’s hand.

Whenever one or more creatures you control deal combat damage to a player, draw a card.

Grazilaxx, Illithid Scholar is a nice curve topper for aggressive blue decks, often entering the battlefield on Turn 3 before you attack with your army of small blue flying creatures and drawing cards. It also shouldn’t be overlooked that if you manage to take control of an opponent’s creature, attack with it, and force a block, you can return that creature to your opponent’s hand and set them back a turn.

So what do you think Magic’s take on the Mindflayer? Will it find a home in Mono-Blue Aggro or somewhere else? Let us know what you think in the comments!
