Stalker_br won the Historic Hooglandia Open on Saturday with Selesnya Company.

The first Historic Hooglandia Open since the update to the format through the balance changes to cards from Alchemy drew 155 players. With nerfs to cards like Luminarch Aspirant, Alrund’s Epiphany, and Esika’s Chariot along with the introduction of many new cards, the format had the potential for a new look. Despite the new options, Stalker_br came out on top with Selesnya Company, leveraging the lifegain synergies of Scurry Oak, Heliod, Sun-Crowned, and Soul Warden.

Stalker_br got off to a 5-0 start before taking their only loss then ran the table the rest of the way, culminating with a finals win against Josh Graves on Golgari Food (Lurrus). The only new or rebalanced card to show up in the top two decks was a singe copy of Forsaken Crossroads in Stalker_br’s list.

The rest of the Top 8 was filled out by four copies of Izzet Phoenix, and single copies of Azorius Control and Grixis Tainted Pact. The most played deck in the field was Izzet Phoenix at eighteen pilots, followed by Golgari Food (Lurrus) at sixteen. Azorius Control and Jund Food were tied at eight players, and Selesnya Humans at seven.
