A PSA 10 Gem Mint Alpha Black Lotus sold for $511,100 on eBay Wednesday, shattering the record for the highest price paid for a card from a TCG.

The iconic card was auctioned by PWCC Marketplace and had bids above $700,000 before special bidding rules were implemented to only allow preapproved bidders to place bids. The card sat over $300,000 nine days ago, which was closing in on the highest price a TCG card ever sold for — a commissioned presentation Galaxy Star Hologram Blastoise from Pokémon that went for $360,000 and was only one of two copies in existence.

The nearly perfect Black Lotus from the first ever set of the game sold for more than triple the price of the previous highest Magic card. A 9.5 Alpha Black Lotus sold for $166,100 in February of 2019. Despite selling for more than a half a million dollars, the buyer still had to pay $250 for shipping.
