Magic: the Gathering is returning to comics with the first issue coming out in April, published by BOOM! Studios.
BOOM! Studios and Hasbro are teaming up to produce a monthly series named Magic. The series will begin on Ravnica, following the assassination attempts on Kaya, Ral Zarek, and Vraska. The three planeswalkers will travel to Zendikar to track down the assassins.
The creative team behind the Magic comics includes: writer Jed MacKay, artist Ig Guara, colorist Arianna Consonni, and letterer Ed Dukeshire.
Magic #1 will have cover art by Matteo Scalera and will have many special art editions and variants. BOOM! Studios will also offer a collector bundle with the normal cover, an exclusive variant by Mirka Andolfo, a hidden planeswalker cover, and a blank sketch cover.
Magic comics have been around since the early days of the game, dating back to issues by Armada in 1995 that came with cards or tokens. The most recent run of Magic comics was published by IDW, running from 2011-2018 and also included special promo versions of cards.
