Good Morning Magic Previews By Invitation Only From Innistrad: Crimson Vow

New white sorcery offers a different take on mass removal.

Gavin Verhey used today’s episode of Good Morning Magic to cover all of the booster fun varieties Innistrad: Crimson Vow has to offer and previewed a new, white, rare mass-removal spell — By Invitation Only!

Check out the normal and extended-art versions of By Invitation Only with art by Micah Epstein.

By Invitation Only introduces a new style of mass-removal spell at five mana.

Choose a number between 0 and 13. Each player sacrifices that many creatures.

Instead of a clean catchall that always kills everything, By Invitation Only offers a bit more flexibility while still usually doing a pretty strong imitation of Wrath of God. A strict control deck can run this as means to deal with multiple creatures from an opponent, but a tokens or go-wide midrange deck can also play this and pick on opponents that only have a few creatures — leaving them creatureless while you get to maintain a board presence. Of course, a control player might find issue with it if an opponent can amass more than 13 creatures.

What do you think of By Invitation only? Can this reliably be used in more than just control decks?
