Weekly MTG’s monthly announcement day gave players their first look at Dominaria United including previews from the set, key art, promos of all shapes and sizes, as well as how to open a card from Legends nearly 30 years after its release.
Blake Rasmussen ran the show solo today, covering all things Dominaria United. To kick things off, refresh yourself with the set symbol and mark your calendars with all the key dates.
Check out all the products coming with Dominaria United, ranging from Set, Draft, and Collector Boosters to Commander Decks, Jumpstart Boosters, and Box Toppers!
Lost Legends Promotion
The major bombshell from today’s announcement is the Lost Legends promotion that will allow players the chance to open up a card from Legends in 2022. Wizards of the Coast (WotC) found a stash of Legends boxes in a warehouse and decided to turn the stockpile of cards from 1994 into a promotion that helps celebrate the game’s 30th anniversary.
Three percent of Collector Boosters will have a card opened from these boxes at random. From commons to rares, most cards from the set will be found by someone, somewhere. Yes, that means you could crack open a copy of The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, Moat, Eureka, Karakas, or The Abyss in a Collector Booster. Some cards were not opened and some cards that have racist or culturally insensitive art or text will not appear in the Lost Legends promotion. Cards like Mana Drain, Land Tax, Sylvan Library, and Underworld Dreams will not be discovered.

Dominaria United Previews
It wouldn’t be a monthly announcement day without new card previews, so here is the first look at cards coming in Dominaria United. We have a return to Llanowar, a new Jaya planeswalker, kicker’s comeback, and a Human that becomes compleat.
Another sneak peek includes the stained-glass basic lands. More cards will also receive the stained-glass treatment, but we’ll have to wait to see them when official previews begin on August 18.
Legends Retold
Dominaria United is all about legends, the creatures, and so it will also feature Legends Retold box topper promos. 20 legends from Magic’s past return with a new form, including Ramirez DePietro, Tor Wauki, and Jasmine Boreal.
Commander Decks
Dominaria United will have two Commander Decks. They are named Painbow, a five-color deck helmed by Dihada, and Legends’ Legacy, a Mardu deck led by Jared Carthalion.
Check out the art for Jared and Dihada below.
Dominaria United Jumpstart Boosters
Jumpstart makes its return with Dominaria United and comes in 10 themed boosters of 20 cards each. For the first time, Jumpstart will also be an option for players at prereleases. Players open two packs, shuffle them up, and battle.
Magic 30 Promos
As another part of Magic’s 30th anniversary, Dominaria United prereleases will also have Magic 30 promos. Thirty iconic cards in Magic’s history will be used with one card representing each year. Seven cards will only be printed in a foreign language to celebrate the game in the languages it has been printed in over the decades.
Take a look at Serra Angel, Ball Lightning, and Fyndhorn Elves (in German).
Game Day Promos
Celebrate Game Day with these three new promos. Touch the Spirit Realm from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty and Workshop Warchief from Streets of New Capenna receive new art. Shivan Devastator is a new card from Dominaria United.
Store Champs Promos
A new trio of Store Championship promos are also coming out. Take a look at Spell Pierce, Gilded Goose, and a textless version of Omnath, Lotus of Creation.
Jumpstart 2022 Release Date Revealed
