Monday, November 10th – The Planeswalker deck tries to overwhelm the opponent in an avalanche of card advantage until you can land a couple of Planeswalkers and take it home from there. Wrath of God, Plumeveil, and Runed Halo are the maindeck ways to answer the aggro threat, in addition to Garruk, Chandra, and Ajani holding down the fort.

Monday, October 6th – The first PTQ of the Kyoto season was this past Saturday (at the time you are reading this, at least), and I’ve noticed a few things about the Shards Sealed format. Chief among them is that it really doesn’t matter how bad your pool is, if you open a Mythic Creature you almost can’t help but win.

Monday, August 18th – I am, to my estimation, a good resource for the ins and outs of the Kithkin deck strategy ,and specifically for the latest iteration, Kith Long. I am a big fan of the Kith folk and a big proponent of its continued success, so when a big bad new deck comes along threatening to knock Kithkin off the map I am quick to try to help the poor little guys have a chance.
Monday, August 11th – This year’s United States National Championships in Chicago taught me a few very important things. One, Kithkin is still good and Soul Snuffers saw no play, like I said. Two, you know how nobody really knew if the “control red deck†would ever be good? Well, I think that two copies in the Top 4 should end that discussion…

This time it is a tandem sucker-punch from Eventide that many players are sure are the final nails in the coffin: Hallowed Burial and Soul Snuffers. Monday, July 28th – The Kentucky Open was a week or so ago, and I decided to make a weekend of it. Originally, I was planning on going to ‘double dip’ on PTQs, since there was one on Saturday in Cleveland and then one on Sunday in Louisville, but I decided to save on gas and just spend the weekend in Kentucky.
