I noticed your plea for short Constructed questions, and I just wanted to ask you: If you had to update a Three Deuce decklist for Type 1.5, what would it look like?

How on earth does one get rid of a Darksteel Colossus?

Ask Ken, 04/13/2004

I have a question. Last pack in a MMD draft I’m playing Black and Green. I open my Darksteel pack to find an Essence Drain, Echoing Courage, and Pristine Angel. Should I take the Pristine Angel in the goal to”hate draft” or take something else?

Is there a new deck out there that takes the best card from all the available sets and meshes them together?

Ask Ken, 04/09/2004

What deck would you take to Regionals, listing and all, and why?

Ask Ken, 04/08/2004

In your April 6th column regarding Platinum Angel you said,”Add to this the fact that Darksteel slowed the format down quite a bit.” I was under the impression that Darksteel sped up Mirrodin Block Drafts.

All Apologies

I owe Darwin Kastle an apology for taking things too far in Good Man of the Week.

I was wondering about what you had to say on color placements in upcoming team drafts. You stated that Black should go on the left and Green on the right. This seems to be the opposite of what I would expect, considering protecting seating and all.

There is no way that Jackie Brown is the greatest Tarantino movie ever, it’s not even close! As for my question, which card do you take for the first pick of the first pack: Platinum Angel or Spikeshot Goblin?

Ask Ken, 04/05/2004

The match between Jordan Berkowitz and Aaron Lipczynski really sparked my curiosity. I noticed that the match was decided by a hideous card called Fists of the Anvil. In your illustrious career of Limited format tournament play, can you think of a worse instance when a pro tour caliber player was knocked out a top eight by an unknown with a card so wretched?

When you say things like,”But enough of my Magical woes, it’s time for a little Reader Mail! Hey!” are you channeling Talk Soup? Cause I hear John Henson saying that every day when I read you.

You are clearly the most handsome, intelligent, charming, witty, selfless, kind, mentally-stable, engaging writer the internet, and indeed the world, has to offer. How do you deal with the jealousy of those like Nick Eisel, Mike Turian, Paul Sottosanti, and Woodward and Bernstein?

Ask Ken, 03/31/2004

First off, you have the congrats of all of #mtgplaty for your
engagement/marriage to JB Smith, documented and revealed in
this weekend’s Sideboard coverage, but i must ask: is this true?

In a recent online draft I took Fireball over Barbed Lightning (which is obviously correct,) but I think the main reason it’s better is because it can hit two creatures at once instead of a creature and a player. It always seems correct to split a Fireball in the early game. Six mana kills two creatures with two toughness each, which is very powerful. So splitting seems right to me usually, especially since it can kill two decent creatures for 6 mana. What do you think?
